@JM Prescott: existing copyright law would have done that far better than this overcomplicated settlement, that meddles with former copyright agreements the settlement parties have no business in. Then, are there "currently uninvolved parties"? Users' rights too are severely interfered with by the settlement.
What can currently uninvolved parties do insure that Google Books is fair to future authors as well as those currently published?
