HONORABLE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Contra Costa County
Administration Building
Martinez, Ca 94553
Dear Board Members:
| wish to advise you that the 2009-2010 County Assessment Roll has been
delivered to the County Auditor, as required by law.
Due to the downturn in the real estate market, there was an $11.3 billion
decrease in the local tax base for 2009-2010. This represents a 7.2% loss
in assessed value and brings the total local assessment roll to over $145.6
billion.
San Pablo had a 23.95% loss in assessed value, followed by Oakley with a
21.93% loss and Antioch with a 21.73% loss. Other cities with double-digit
percentage losses include Brentwood, Pittsburg, Hercules and Richmond.
The only cities with increases in assessed value from the prior year include
Orinda at 5.39%, Lafayette at 3.31% and Moraga at 1.85%.
Contra Costa County real estate continues to show a downward movement
due to the current economy. The County assessment roll now consists of
363,028 parcels, an increase of 591 over the previous year.
| would like to acknowledge and commend the staff of my office for their
continued dedication and hard work, which resulted in the completion and
delivery of this assessment roll on a timely basis.
