Since Emily wasborn, we have beenadjusting to life in Zambia with threechildren. She has grown much and is apleasant little baby who everyone lovesto hold. The women in church are oftentaking turns holding her. In addition, Godcontinues to work with our team to blessthe Zambian people. Many great eventshave occurred since March.
April Servant Hood Seminar
In April, the mission team invited 20young church leaders to attend 4 weeksof classes. They lived here on the centerproperty during the month. All thefunding for their food and lodging wasprovided by the Zambian people so thiswould be a sustainable school wherethey will teach each other in the future.
April’s classes were about following
Jesus. The young men learned much andwe could see their attitude change tobecome more servant minded. This is amajor step for the church here, becausethe culture teaches that church leadersshould be powerful men who control thechurch. However, Jesus teaches them tobecome servants and sacrifice themselvesfor the good of others.The seminars will continue for 2 monthseach year. The first seminar (April) wastaught by the missionaries in English. Thesecond seminar (September) will betaught in Kiikaonde by those whoattended the first seminar. The long termgoal is that the Zambian leaders will bethe main teachers and they will be able totrain each other each year.
Summer Campaigns
Each summer Hillcrest Church of Christsends campaigners to Mumena to dovarious projects. In addition to thecampaigners, five interns from Abileneand Harding have also come this summer.The campaigns are the main way thatChristians from the supporting churchescan get directly involved with the workhere. Please pray that God will use thecampaigners to teach more people aboutGod. The largest campaign will be a threeday gospel meeting at five locations.During one day of the gospel meeting ateach location, the people will also learnabout HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and otherpreventative health topics.
