Complete the steps below to program the BlackBerry Tour 9630.

Primary Programming Method:
 
Hands Free - Open Mobile Alliance/Device Management (OMA/DM)

Where to Locate the ESN/MEID:
 
The ESN/MEID can be found in three places.
 
o
Underneath the battery in the phone on the right side of the barcode sticker.
 
Turn off the phone and remove the battery to view.
 
o
The Barcode sticker on the end of the original box, labeled
DEC-HEX.
 
This should always be the secondary method as the box and phone do not always match.
 
o
Once the phone is powered up, click the Applications button to get to the main screen. Scroll to the Options icon andselect. Scroll down to the Status option and select. The MEID is listed in both HEX and DEC formats.
First-time Activation Programming Steps: Hands Free - OMA/DM
 1.
 
If the customer has not powered on the phone, request that they leave the phone
Off
until advised.
2.
 
Check provisioning by searching the
Switch Control Query Tables
in CSM:
1.
 
From the
Profile
tab, click
Page Options
>
Switch Activities
>
Query Switch Tables.
 2.
 
Click
Get.
3.
 
Review most recent transaction.
If
Complete success
displays, go to step 3.
 
If
Complete Error
displays go to:
Manual Programming Steps
.
 
3. Ask the customer to turn on the phone.1. Once powered on, go to
Applications > Manage Connections
and ensure
Mobile Network
is
On.
 
A check mark will be displayed to the left of Mobile Network if it is on.
If no check mark is displayed:1. Scroll onto
Mobile Network.
 2. Press the trackball.
A check mark will appear next to
Mobile Network
and the services will turn on.
Once fully turned on, the upper right of the screen by the coverage bars will say
1XEV.
If not go to
One TouchProgramming Steps
.4. Hands Free Activation will start
.
 
One Touch Programming Steps: To be used only if First-time Activation Programming fails.
 
 
Note:
The BlackBerry Tour 9630 is Client Initiated IOTA 2.4 capable which should eliminate the need for manual programming.
 
If a Client Initiated IOTA needs to be performed, follow the below steps.1. Insert the battery.2. If the phone is not turned on, press the
Power Key
that is located on the front panel of the phone to turn it on.3. Once powered on, go to
Applications > Manage Connections
and ensure
Mobile Network
is
On.
 
o
A check mark will be displayed to the left of Mobile Network if it is on.
If no check mark is displayed:1. Scroll onto
Mobile Network.
 2. Press the trackball.
A check mark will appear next to
Mobile Network
and the services will turn on.
Once fully turned on, the upper right of the screen by the coverage bars will say
1XEV.
 4. Press the
Applications
Button.5. From the Main Screen, scroll to
Options.
 6. Press the
trackball.
 7. Scroll to
Mobile Network.
 8. Press the
trackball.
 9. Scroll down to
Mobile Network.
 10. Press the
trackball.
 11. Scroll to
Update Profile.
 12. Press the
trackball.
 
o
The phone will start Provisioning.
 
13. When Provisioning completes, Press
OK.
 
o
If any other error is displayed, follow the correct trouble shooting steps for that error.
Manual Programming Steps: To be used only if Switch Query Tables Shows Complete Error or when Update Profile Unsuccessfulis displayed on the phone:
 
 
Important Notes when using the Master Subsidy Lock (MSL):
 
o
Handle MSL with extreme caution.
When it must be shared with the customer, refer to it as a 6-digit number or code instead of MSL.
o
The
One Time Key Subsidy Lock (OTKSL)
only works one time.
If the OTKSL fails, this is an indication that the programming may have already been performed.
 
Retry using the MSL.
o
If a wrong number is accidentally pressed:
 
Delete it by pressing the
Delete
key
 
directly above the
Enter
key.
1.
 
Press
##
followed by the 6-digit
Master Subsidy Lock
(MSL) code.
 2.
 
Press the
Green Talk Button.
The CDMA Service Program Screen displays, highlighted on Mobile Directory Number (MDN).
 
The MDN defaults to 000000dddd where dddd is the last 4 a digits of hexadecimal Electronic Serial Number (ESN) converted todecimal value.
3.
 
Erase the default entry of the MDN and replace with the
10-digit MDN
of the phone number.
o
To do this:
 1.
 
Use the trackball to scroll to the end of the
Mobile Directory Number
field.
2.
 
Use the Delete key to erase the default numbers.
3.
 
Enter the correct
10-digit MDN
.
 
 4.
 
Scroll down to the
IMSI_S
field and replace the default entry with the
10-digit MSID
number.
5.
 
Press the
trackball.
 6.
 
Select
Save
.
 7.
 
Press the
trackball
again to save the new entries.
The phone displays
Write Successful. Resetting device.
 
The phone resets.
