The Culdee Manifesto
,

.
The Culdee Vision statement
:
(draft 23-11-2007
“To create a space in which children experience first hand the living ofHuman Values and ethics in order to become balanced individuals,capable of being responsible role-models of the future.”
The Culdee Mission statement:

draft 280106
“To create a Universal Multi Faith Ecovillage with a zero-waste/zero-energy/re-use/recycle/reclaim policy where the people adhere to the Human Values ofTruth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Non-Violence and aspire to inspire ourchildren and our children’s children (not forgetting each other and ourselves) tolook at what is lacking in our society and instigate a change by setting anexample how it can be done;
To create a “School of Life” that encourages us to look beyond –and breakthrough- the limitations of our belief system and embark together on the journey of life; since we all have abilities far beyond what we use, we discoverand joyously investigate the limitless possibilities we are endowed with;
To encourage the children to find an alternative way to govern by establishing a‘micro-country’ with its own circulatory governmental system in order toprepare to become our leaders of tomorrow;
To create a buddy-system to stimulate and encourage us to persevere on thechosen path;
To find one’s own space but be responsible for the whole;
To foster children who are ‘dealt a wrong hand’ in life and share our abundancewith them:
To welcome constructively inclined visitors who want to experience what wehave discovered and share our renewed belief system with them”.

Synopsis of the Culdee Manifesto:
To create a community based eco-village modelled on villages as they were 100-150 years ago,which where almost self-sufficient:
Where people work where they live.
Where people create their jobs in a cottage industry-type environment; showingcreativity and re-using materials that otherwise would have landed in a land-fill.(making drinking glasses from wine bottles; design and make children’s clothingfrom old); make wines, jams, pickles, cheeses etc; create a tree-nursery and marketgarden, run an organic farm shop with coffee shop and organic restaurant; preparetake-awaymeals for the time-sharers in the Time-Share Projects nearby.
Where three, even four, generations live closely together. (a care-village within thevillage)
Where the commitment to and care for each other is ‘from Cradle-to-Grave’ with asmuch emphasis for the healthy development of the children as the respect andinclusion-to-the last of the elderly.
To become a Woodland Burial Site
Where the emphasis is also on restoring the Human Values and re-connect with theirown inner guidance / higher self / God and where there is respect for each uniqueinterpretation.
Where Head Heart and Hands are inclusive: Walk One’s Talk.
Where children learn to take responsibility for what they have.
Where there is a co-operative nature/forest school based on home-schooling.
Where a buddy-system is functioning so that no-one is left out.
Where skills will be taught from an early age on regardless of gender, whether it becarpentry, building, engineering, gardening, cooking, sowing, weaving or knitting.
Where the Scottish culture and Celtic language play an important part.
Where music making – dance – arts – drama – sports are part of daily life.
Where nature and wildlife blend naturally within the village.
Where people grow their own vegetables, fish and meat locally.
Where people live ‘preventative’ and make use of the ‘alternative’ healing systems andlocally grown medicinal herbs; create a Physic (medicinal) garden.
Where people use their building materials from what is quarried and grown locally.
Where during the build as much as possible material is recycled/re-used/reclaimed.
Where we aim to become a ZWAZE site (Zero Waste Zero Energy)
Where all organic waste is composted.
Where all buildings meet high ecological standards;
Where we aim to be central in ecological Pilot schemes.
Where the village generates its own energy through solar/wind/water/biomass.
Where we can educate people –young and old alike- from outside on
how
one can ‘walkone’s talk’ by organising training courses and Seminars
To become a vocational training site on all of the above, a ‘University of Life’

About Culdees’ Project:
Dear reader
A heartfelt and warm welcome to you
.Our aim at Culdees is to create a caring community, at one with the naturalenvironment – where life’s challenges are seen as opportunities for growth throughlearning.Within the following pages lies some information about Culdees, the people hereand the work that they are involved in:
What is going on at Culdees?
The central character here is Reverend Mother Maryse Verkaik-Anand, anUniversal Multi Faith Minister. She originates from Amsterdam in The Netherlandsand has plans to transform the 120-acres of Culdees into a living, growing,Permaculture site and applying Human Values in al aspects. Maryse created and workswith ReSOULving, helping individuals use their soul wisdom to resolve issues oraspects of their life which no longer serve them. Other disciplines are ‘PerceptualEnrichment Programme’ and Reiki; she is a Reiki Master.There are a number of people from different walks of life who considerCuldees a home-from-home. Some live at Culdees on a long-term basis – in a tent inthe field, in one of the caravans, in the Portacabin or simply on a couch in the frontroom. Others stop by for weekends between their travels. Some volunteers stay for just a couple of days or even hours – others spend extended summers with us.There are two aspects of the Culdee Project:The ‘
Culdee Manifesto’
, which is the organisational aspect, andThe
‘Cornerstones’
, which is the practical aspect.
