Preparation for Heavenly Living Correspondence School
PFHL Course 240-- Leadership to Churches for Revival
(13 pgs.)
(by Bill Stevenson)
Directions:Read carefully and answer the questions. This assignment is worth 3 units.
 Introduction:
Does your church need revival? Or if you do not have a church presently, do you want to beginone in a very easy and interesting way? This course has important Biblical, practical, and a littlelegal information for either situation. I have experienced over 30 different denominational andnon-denominational churches and about 7 different home groups. The main conclusion I havecome to is that a home church (Philemon 2) or a building church should have as the main purposes what is stated in the following Bible passages-- Ephesians 4:11-16, Colossians 3:12-17,Hebrews 10:24-25, and Titus 2:1-8. But before getting to those, let us take a special survey of the Bible to see what are the Biblical key ingredients for church leadership and church ministries, even for home groups. Remember that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and “inGod is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17b). In order to improve anything,we must be willing to change and it is much better to change to what the Bible advises than towhat a “how to” book says. Remember that God will not ask or command us to do any changewe could not do without His help. Leonard Ravenhill wrote in his book for preacher revival,Sodom Had No Bible: “Brethren! When we get humble enough, and low enough, and desperateenough, and hungry enough, and concerned enough, and passionate enough, and broken enough, and clean enough, and prayerful enough, then God will send us a revival that equals andsurpasses the awakening this country experienced in the days of Charles Finney.” So be prayerfully open-minded as you read these Bible verses and answer the questions on other paper.(The point values for each answer are in parentheses.)
