Bible Study About the Holy Spirit
Directions:Write an essay about how you personally relate or have experienced the concepts inthe following. This assignment is worth 3 units, so write at least 4 quality pages.
God is a trinity of persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are distinct persons, yetthey are God. They are co-eternal, co-equal, and co-powerful. The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity. He is eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, has a will, and can speak. He is alive. He is a person. He is not particularly visible in the Bible because His ministry is to bear witness to Jesus(John 15:26), to guide people to Jesus, to give Christians the power and boldness to share the truth, and to empower Christians to live a life like Jesus. As God's people living in the Last Days, it is important for us to study what the Bible has to sayabout the Holy Spirit, and acquaint ourselves with Him personally. The Bible tells us about themighty outpouring of power on Pentecost just after Jesus went back to Heaven, and it is clear that theHoly Spirit will be seen again in full power just before Jesus returns. The Bible likens thismanifestation to the “early rain” and the “latter rain” that fell on Palestine. The “early rain” wouldfall just after the seeds were planted, and helped them to sprout and grow. The “latter rain” wouldfall just before the harvest, and helped the grain to develop fully for the harvest. Sometimes we getso involved with talking about the "latter rain" that we forget what time we are living in today. InPalestine, the time between the “early rain” and the “latter rain” was considered the rainy season. And so it is with us today. The Holy Spirit came in full measure at Pentecost, and He never left. Weare living in the time of the rainy season now. The Holy Spirit power is here now, and the HolySpirit power is available to all who ask for
it--NOW!
Please Read Romans 8 at this time. How does one become sensitive to the Holy Spirit: The best way for me is to do 1 John 1:9 andthen think personally about Proverbs 3:5-6:
Trust in the Lord with all my heart, and lean not on my own understanding or past experiences;in all my ways acknowledge(be thankful for) Him,and He (via the Holy Spirit) shall direct my thinking and doing.
But the Holy Spirit has to rely on Jesus Christ for help of when to share truths and directions.John 16:12 “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear {them} now. 13 But whenHe, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His owninitiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 Hewill glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose {it} to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose {it} to you.”The Holy Spirit did not experience being human as Jesus Christ did.
