Christian Character Qualities with Scriptures(compiled by Bill Stevenson)
Note:On July 28, 2006, I could not get into the Internet until 3:30 PM. I thought that I might use themorning and early afternoon time just to scan some more articles and Bible studies. I was alsoopen to continuing working on one of the uncompleted Bible studies which I started earlier this year. But the Holy Spirit wanted me to do neither. He urged me to go my Christian Character Trait list and open the recent list of 60 Christian Character Traits of ACE which had a verse for each. I thought that I would just put the verses after the appropriate traits in my list. But I soonnoticed that many of the verses were out of context and not the best. In the past, I had asked  several individuals to try to find appropriate Bible verses or/and Bible stories for each of the 32Christian character traits. No one sent me such. Now I know why. So far, I have had a great time creating a Bible study tool using this list!! Try to figure out why I chose the verses and why I chose to bold certain phrases and statements. Some of the verses are in several of the ChristianCharacter Qualities.
1.Attentive: desire to listen and to be respectful.
Luke 19:47-48 “And He
[Jesus Christ]

forall the people were very attentive to hear Him.”

; youtherefore hear them not, because you are not of God.”John 10:25-30 “Jesus answered them [some Jews], ‘I told you, and you believed not: the works thatI do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me. But you believe not, because you are not of Mysheep, as I said unto you.
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me
; And Igive unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of Myhand. My Father, Who gave them to Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are one.”Revelation 3:19-21
“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I willcome in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.
To him that overcomes will I grant to sitwith Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne.”John 18:37 “Pilate therefore said unto Him [Jesus Christ], ‘Art thou a king then?’ Jesus answered,‘You say that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that Ishould bear witness unto the truth.
Every one that is of the truth hears My voice.”
Matthew 13:8-9 Jesus Christ said, “‘But other [seed or the Word of God] fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundred-fold, some sixty-fold, some thirty-fold.
Who hath ears tohear, let him hear.
’”
Look at Matthew 13:1-23 or Mark 4 for more about hearing.
Luke 11:28 “But He [Jesus Christ] said, ‘Yea rather,
blessed are they that hear the Word of God,and keep it.
’”Matthew 7:24-27

And every one that hears these sayings of Mine, and doeth them not, shall belikened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand; and the rain descended, andthe floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fallof it.”

hear words of you.
’”… Cornelius said to Peter, “Immediately therefore I sent for you; and you havewell done that you have come.
Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear allthings that are commanded thee of God.
Acts 13:42-44 “And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought thatthese words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. And the next Sabbath day came almost the wholecity together to hear the Word of God.”James 1:19

lest at any time your hearts be overcharged withsurfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life
, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as
a snare
shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole Earth.
Watch therefore, andpray always, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come topass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

.”2.
Available: desire to be flexible and generous with time.
Luke 2:41-49 “Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. Andwhen He [Jesus Christ] was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of theFeast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned,
the child Jesus tarried behind inJerusalem
; and Joseph and His mother knew not of it. But they,
supposing Him to have been inthe company
, went a day's journey; and they sought Him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found Him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking Him. And it came to pass, that
after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, bothhearing them, and asking them questions.
And all that heard Him were astonished at Hisunderstanding and answers. And when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said untoHim, ‘Son, why has Thou thus dealt with us? Behold, Thy father and I have sought Thee sorrowing.’And He said unto them, ‘How is it that you sought Me? Didn’t you not know that I must be aboutMy Father's business?’”
The Scripture doesn't say that His parents punished Him, so theyapparently were understanding and flexible.

And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed Him.

Acts 19:8-11
And he [the Apostle Paul] went into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for thespace of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the Kingdom of God.
But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spoke evil of that way before the multitude, hedeparted from them,
and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they who dwelt in Asia heard the wordof the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

These things aregood and profitable unto men.
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, andstrivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretic after thefirst and second admonition reject
, knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinned, beingcondemned of himself.”4.

Let love be without hypocrisy.
Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
Bekindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to oneanother; not lagging in diligence
, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient intribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;
distributing to the needs of the saints, given tohospitality
.”Galatians 5:22-23 “But
the fruit of the Spirit is

love
, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, temperance [self-control]: against such there is no law.”Galatians 6:1-10
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you which are spiritual, restoresuch an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear oneanother's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceived himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall hehave rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden.
Lethim that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teaches in all good things.
Be notdeceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sowed, that shall he also reap. For he that sowedto his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sowed to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reaplife everlasting.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if wefaint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all people, especially unto themwho are of the household of faith.
Ephesians 4:1-3 “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the callingwith which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering,

fulfill you my joy, that you be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife orvainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not
