Lexington’s July Fourth festivities coverage beginning with the July third concert at Gratz Park / Transylvania University, progressed to the Bluegrass 10,000 race at 7:30 a.m., July fourth, just missing the rain for each main event up to the parade, but not the fireworks.
The city council budgeted $22,500 for the 2009 festivities.
The actual $29,519 cost of the 2008 July 4 festivities was $7,019 over budget — 32% more.
Council has budgeted $22,500 again for 2010.
