Mount Faber is the highest mountain in Singapore. It is located in the south of Singapore and its justbeside my college. According to a statement distributed by Singapore's government, our students haveto run more than 3 kilometers around the island or choose other activities which has equal effects. As aresult, our SISCO members established an interesting catch phrase called
“We are coming, Mount Faber.”
After walking for a long time along the road, we arrived at the foot of the mountain. It is called a mountainbut actually its not much bigger than a hill. Its about a few hundred high. The scenery was not bad andwe were surrounded by greenery which seemed to be smiling as the wind blew and it also made theleaves sound happy. The air was crisp and it smelt of ferns. We were surrounded by tall, straight jungleleaves which blocked out most of the sun. The narrow shafts of the suns ray managed to pierce throughthe gaps in the foliage of the trees. We laughed and talked and our delighted sound lingered in the air.

After we climbed a few steps, we were greeted by a very tallbridge, one of the tallest in Singapore.
Although I have been in Singapore for half a year, I have never had the chance to cross this bridge. Thescenery on the bridge was beyond my expectation. Taking the broad view, I saw the real beauty of Singapore. There were a few cotton like clouds hovering in the blue sky. We took many photos as we wereafraid of missing such a beautiful and specular landscape. Finally, we arrived at our destination. It was a peaceful and wide place. We played some games there, which made everybody enjoyed themselves. The first game we played was hide-and-seek. We placedseveral pieces of papers in the grass and some on the trees. On the paper we wrote phrases like “Thank You. Welcome”, “Second Prize” and “Third Prize” respectively. I have never seen anyone play hide andseek so intensely.

Everyone was searching for the notes and when a few students found the pieces of paper, they were disappointed because the did notfind the winning note. The first three prizes were found after a while and the winners got chocolates. The next game we played made someof the students go crazy. Everyone blew up a balloon when our leader May commanded 'Start'. The students used several methods toburst the balloons of their competitors while keeping theirs safe. The last 3 students who had their balloons in tact won prizes. Everyoneenjoyed the game, they ran, walked and jumped to win a prize.
In conclusion, everyone was satisfied. I loved it. I hope there are more activities like theMount Faber run.

Science Fair
Shelton High students from O-levels Einstein, Newton and Bell and A-levels ScienceStream showcased their science fair projects on 27 April 2009.
Preparation for the fair started in January. Ms.Sabina Sareena, Head of Science, guided the students in their preparations and in theexhibition held in April. Some of the projects exhibited were Heat Transfer through Different Medium, Water Rocket,Chromatography,Crazy Paper Box, Herbarium, Fruit Battery, Water Purifier, Midget Boat,Mini Volcano and Hydrogen Balloon. The whole project gave the students the opportunity to test their own hypothesis, to pursue their topic of interest and to further theirunderstanding of the science concepts learnt in the classroom. The exhibition was held right after the school assembly. Teachers and students excitedly scrutinized and tested each project during thepresentations. Students in Secondary Three showed their support to their seniors by preparing simple science magic to make the occasionmore interactive.Cheers to the SCI students and the Science Department for a job well done!
