Description

In his revolutionary bestseller, THE LONG TAIL, Chris Anderson demonstrated how the online marketplace creates niche markets, allowing products and consumers to connect in a way that has never been possible before. Now, in FREE he makes the compelling case that in many instances businesses can profit more from giving things away than they can by charging for them. Far more than a promotional gimmick, FREE is a business strategy that may well be essential to a company's survival.

"This full free book is now over, but please enjoy the free excerpt". What a scam. The book title should have been, "Free: For a Limited Time".

I agree with the posters below: This version of the work is so limited that it follows open-source practices in vague form but not in spirit. For a better example of free, see the distribution practices of Charles Stross or Cory Doctorow. I'm sure Chris Anderson will learn from this experience. I'll likely check out his book in print from my local library, and if I like it there -- in the original free format -- I might buy it. We'll see.

Thank you Chris for making this free - and to prove your point that people will pay for convenience, I'm going to go purchase this for my Kindle so I can read it with ease!

I just heard about this book on the Adam Carolla podcast (Chris was a guest)... which is free. I think I'll give it a read. Get it on!

It works fine in Firefox, Jinglefritz. I'm reading it that way right now. Maybe you've got flash disabled?

Hi there Chris. Listening to your audio book now. I'm writing the first book in a fiction series and I'm looking for a way to promote it, hopefully to a publisher. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions on how to help me out. Let me know if you want to read a WIP as well.

The INTERNET is NOT geographically restricted, your "publishing partners" do not deserve to be in business if this is their attitude, and you are a disgrace for pandering to their ridiculous demands.
