Albany County Public Service AnnouncementVideo Highlights Need for Flu Vaccination
Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy today announced that the county Department of Health is preparing for the upcoming flu season by featuring a YouTube public serviceannouncement on the county website urging residents to get vaccinated early.The video provides information on the importance of the flu vaccine and an interactive fluvaccine finder that the public can use to find a location near them where they can get thevaccine. The video is posted on the main page of the Albany County web site atwww.albanycounty.com.
“We are doing what we can now to get ready,” said McCoy. “The 2012
-13 flu season wasparticularly bad in New York State, with more than 240 confirmed cases in the county and45,000 statewide. We want to do all we can to get people ready for the flu season. The key
is to get the vaccine now before exposure.”
The flu vaccine will again be provided to county residents who are 6 months of age andolder. The clinics will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.
4 p.m. at the HealthDepartment at 175 Green St. next to the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. To make anappointment, call (518) 447-4589 during business hours. The Health Department accepts most insurance plans and will bill Medicare Part B for individuals aged 65 and older. Individuals should bring their insurance card to their appointment. If the insurance plan is not accepted, the cost of the flu vaccination is $25payable at the time of service. For those without insurance who are unable to pay the fullcost, a sliding-fee scale will be used.###
