Generic name Albuterol

Mechanism of action It relieves nasal congestion and reversible bronchospasm by relaxing the smooth muscles of the bronchioles .The relief from nasa congestion and bronchospasm is made possible by the following mechanism

Adverse effects -nervousness -restlessness -tremor -headache -insomnia -chest pain -palpitation -angina -arrythmias -hypertension -nausea and vomiting

Contraindication -hypersensitivity to adrenergic amines -hypersensitivity to fluorocarbons

Drug interactions -acetobutolol -alprenolol -arotinolol

Nursing consideration -assess lung sounds, PR, and BP before drug administration and during peak of the medication. -observe for paradoxical spasm and withhold medication and notify physician. -administer PO medications with meals to minimize gastric irritation -extended release tablet should be swallowed-whole it should not be crushed or chewed -if administering medication through inhalation, allow at least 1 minute between inhalation of aerosol medication -advise patient to rinse mouth with water after each inhalation to minimize dry mouth -inform the patient that Albuterol may cause bad taste.

Generic name omeprazole

Mechanism of action Omeprazole is in a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPI) that block the production of acid by the stomach.

Side effects diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headaches , rash dizziness. Nervousness, abnormal heartbeat, muscle pain, weakness

Contraindication Drug interactions -hypersensitivity to omeprazole -diazepam -warfarin

Nursing consideration -instruct patient to take a medication one hour before meal - encourage patient to limit intake coffee or any spicy food -may experienced side effects instruct patient to report vomiting. Advise patient to eat a small frequent feeding

Generic name levofloxacin

Mechanism of action Levofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is active against both Grampositive and Gramnegative bacteria. It functions by inhibiting DNA gyrase, a type IItopoisomerase, and topoisomerase iv,[85] which is an enzyme necessary to separate replicated DNA, thereby inhibiting cell division

Side effects -taste disturbance -muscle weakness

Contraindication -hypersensitivity to levofloxacin
