Minutes from the committee meeting of Digbeth Residents Association (DRA) and Neighbourhood Watch on Monday 16th September

2013 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant. 1. Roll Call and Apologies Present: Karen Jones, Alfie Hobbs, John Gordon, Pamela Pinski, Rosie Pocklington, Gary Poyner, Jo Smith. Apologies: Lucy Cattel, Joe Holyoak, Ian Winkles, Lisa Zdravkovic, Val Woodward, Michael Butler. 2. Matters arising a. Rea Residents Association The residents of Rea House and Rea Place have been suffering with vandalism, anti-social behaviour, bike theft, and theft of mail from letter boxes. They are in conversation with their management company (Optima Community), but DRA hopes to be able to support them in their efforts to improve Digbeth. Their next meeting takes place on Tuesday 17 September at 18:30 in the White Swan. b. Nechells Ward Meeting - Updates DRA spoke with Russell Davey, Environmental Officer at Birmingham City Council, at the last Nechells Ward Meeting. The situation with rubbish in Digbeth is improving, but we can still do more. DRA plans to organise litter picks with local pubs to help improve our shared living area. DRA is also looking into installing thank you for choosing Digbeth to have fun. Please be considerate of our neighbours when leaving. plaques in pubs and other venues. 3. Police Report and Neighbourhood Watch News Policing provision to support the night time economy has recently been shuffled, meaning that Digbeth will now have a higher policing presence. However, DRA has been contacted by those who work in Digbeth and are feeling unsafe. DRA will investigate funding streams available for personal safety alarms and self-defence classes to be delivered in partnership with our local Digbeth Neighbourhood Policing Team. 4. Any Other Business None. 5. Date and Time of Next Meetings The next committee meeting will be held on Monday 11th November 2013 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant, High Street Digbeth. The next open meeting will be held on Monday 14th October 2013 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant, High Street Digbeth.
