Welcome to IdenTrust! Obtaining an ACES Digital Certificate is a simple 3-Step process.This workbook will help introduce and walk you through each process.First, let’s identify the 3 steps:

Before we get started, there are a few pieces of information that are important to know:

IdentityProtection

In order to protect the identity of our certificate holders, only the certificate holder should beusing their own digital certificate. Please do not let others use your digital certificate; do notshare your passwords or passphrases, or your private key. Disclosing passwords andpassphrases compromise the security of your digital certificate, requiring it to be revoked.

Individual vs.Business

ACES Unaffiliated Individual Certificate

- enables you to authenticate yourself in personalgovernment transactions to gain access to restricted Web sites, and to send and receive e-mail communications using your digital certificate to authenticate yourself.

ACES Business Representative Certificate

- enables you to authenticate yourself as anemployee of a valid business in government transactions to gain access to restricted Websites, and to send and receive e-mail communications using your digital certificate toauthenticate yourself.

DisclosingPersonalInfo

Applying for an individual certificate will require you to disclose personal information aboutyourself for the purpose of identification verification. If this information is incomplete or inaccurate, we will be unable to fulfill your request for a digital certificate.

Passphrases

During the application process, you will be required to create a Passphrase. ThisPassphrase will be needed to retrieve your certificate once it is approved.

Please remember or store your Passphrase in a secure place, as it cannot be retrieved once you have submitted it

. It is stored in an unreadable format, so support personnel have no access tothe original text you submit.

Step-By-Step Instructions (ACES Unaffiliated Individual Certificate)

Step 1:Application

Once you begin the online application process, you will need to provide the followinginformation and then provide payment for the digital certificate:

1. Name2. E-mail address3. Home address4. Phone number 5. Social Security Number (SSN)6. Date of Birth (DOB)7. Driver’s license number or State ID

Payment

Payment methods: Credit Card, Order Number or Voucher Number NOTE: To pay by Order Number or Voucher Number, you must submit your Purchase Order prior to certificate application.

Step 2:

Authentication

Processing of the ACES Unaffiliated Individual Certificate application is carried out by anIdenTrust Registration Agent. This process consists of validating the information provided inStep 1 against independent data sources. Once the application is approved, usually within 1business day, a Welcome Letter is mailed to the address provided. Please allow up to 5 daysfor the Welcome Letter to arrive in the mail.

Step 3:Retrieval

Retrieval

Once the Welcome Letter is received in the mail, follow the instructions to retrieve your ACES Unaffiliated Individual Certificate.
