    The leaflet about the Legal Case was prepared for the ALIAS exhibition at the World ATM Congress 2013. The leaflet is a double-side printed flyer. Each side shows one of the two possible applications of the methodology, i.e. the proactive and the retrospective application of the Legal Case process. The sides are not meant to be considered in an ordinal hierarchy, in the sense that they don’t indicate a “first” use and a “second” use; they just reflect the twofold way of applying the methodology, being them distinguished only on the basis of the needs and the features of a certain context of application (should it be a technology under development or an accident).

    THE LEGAL CASE PROACTIVE PROCESS

    Used in a proactive way, the Legal Case has the purpose to contribute to the design of a new generation of automated ATM systems, that are associated to schemas of liability attribution feasible in the current and future legal framework and acceptable for the stakeholders.

    THE LEGAL CASE RETROSPECTIVE PROCESS

    Used in a retrospective way, the Legal Case has the purpose to help lawyers and investigators to allocate responsibility in case of a disaster in which a technology played a crucial role. It helps to identify the way in which the technology has been involved in the accident dynamic and how this reflects into the processes of liability attribution.
