Planning Process
In October 2011, the Board of School Directors appointed School Board members, community members,local business representatives, parents, and students to participate on the Middletown Area SchoolDistrict's Comprehensive Planning Committee. All school and district administrators were named to thecommittee. Teachers were selected by their peers to participate on the committee. A total of 45individuals comprised the full committee.On November 7, 2011, the Committee met for the first time. An overview of the new comprehensiveplanning process was provided by the former Assistant Superintendent (now Superintendent of Schools).Subcommittees for Special Education, Professional Education, Technology, and Safe & Supportive Schoolswere formed during this meeting.The full committee continued to meet monthly from December 2011 - May 2012. Subcommittee workoccurred between full committee meetings. Each month the full committee would meet to review thework done by the various subcommittees. Goals and action plans were developed by a subcommitteeand taken to the full committee for review and feedback. The full committee met again on September 17and October 15, 2012 to review the finalized plans.The comprehensive plan was presented to the Middletown Area School District Board of Education onOctober 22, 2012. The plan was then available for public inspection until November 19, 2012. The planwill be approved by the Board on November 19 and submitted to the PA Department of Education byNovember 30, 2012 in compliance with Chapter 4 regulations.
