ACT I
FADE IN:A remote village in the west coast of Scotland.EXT – FIELD – LATE EVENINGThe green land is dark. Sheep are grazing in the onset of night.Woods run along the side of the fence bordered grass. A farmhousestands at the bottom of the acreage. Something spooks one of thesheep, it darts away from the edge of the field, not stopping tillit gets to the middle and amongst the bulk of the heard. In thedistance, something comes out of the woods and enters the field.The black shape snaps the barbed wire fence, such is the bulk ofthe dark beast. Some sheep heads turn in the direction of thesudden intruder. They start to panic.INT – FARMHOUSE – CONTINUOUSGus MacDonald stands in front of the bathroom mirror, swiping theblade of his cut throat razor over the final piece of shaving foamon his chin. He is a man in his early sixties, white haired. Hewears black trousers and white vest, with no belt, his braces holdup his slacks. Gus lays the razor at the side of the sink and hestares at his reflection in the mirror. He rubs a palm over hissmooth cheeks and chin and grunts approval to himself. Hisattention is drawn to a disturbance outside in the field beyond hisbathroom window. He goes to it and pushes it open, he listens.Silence. Then comes the sound of sheep in a panic.GUSWhat the hell is going on outthere?! Gus turns away from the window and out of the bathroom.CUT TO:INT – KITCHEN – CONTINUOUSMary MacDonald is looking out of the kitchen window, into thegloom. She's in her late fifties with dyed mousy blonde hair. Shewears a checked dressing gown. She has her back to the door of theroom as Gus walks in. Mary whirls round in fright as she sensessomeone behind her. She sees her husband.MARYJesus, what a scare you gaveme!
