Chief amongthem is broadband-speedWeb surfing, downloading,and e-mail on the mobile net-work -- the new iPhone workson UMTS/HSDPA networks aswell as GSM/EDGE, includingoverseas.If you somehow missediPhone mania last year, but you're now in the marketfor an electronic Swiss army knife, this is the deluxemodel without a deluxe price.It does everything, and most of it well: voice, e-mail(including push), 3G, and Wi-Fi Web surfing, music,video, 2-megapixel still and video photography, GPSnavigation. And it features a brilliantly designed touch-screen user interface, the hands-down coolest of anysmart phone we've seen.
What else is new in the iPhone 3G?
Improved sound quality,Apple says. Support forMicrosoft ExchangeActiveSync, which meanssecure push e-mail, contacts,and calendars for enterpriseusers. There's also a built-invirtual private network withstrong two-factor authentica-tion. And access to scoresof new applications writtenby third-party developers,and available at the wildlypopular new AppleAppStore.
