In an age of uncertainty, societyglobally needs a new compass toset it on a path of real progress.The Happy Planet Index (HPI)provides that compass bymeasuring what truly mattersto us – our well-being in termsof long, happy and meaningfullives – and what matters to theplanet – our rate of resourceconsumption.It brings them together in aunique form which captures theecological efficiency with whichwe are achieving good lives. Thisreport presents results from thesecond global HPI. It shows thatwe are still far from achievingsustainable well-being, and putsforward a vision of what we needto do to get there.
