 WiMax, also known as IEEE 802.16, is awireless digital communications system that isintended for wireless “metropolitan areanetworks”. WiMax is designed to extend lo-cal WiFi networks across greater distances,such as on a university campus.

access for up to 30 miles for xed stations
and 3 to 10 miles for mobile stations. WiMax

-ference avoidance, and is intended to allowhigher data rates over longer distances.
