Blogging & Social Media Policy
1.1Version and Date

1.2Purpose
We’ve developed this Blogging and Social Media Policy for our mutual protection.We are extremely keen to give you the freedom and confidence to experiment (or continue toexperiment) with online media in your own way. The freedom and confidence to try out newthings, to make the occasional mistake, and to discover new opportunities.Additionally, Meru is implementing a social media strategy to build and connect with our community not only within the walls of Meru’s campus, but around the globe. The essence of community is the idea that it exists so that you can support others and they, in turn, can supportyou. As an active social media company, we need to learn how to balance personal and professional information on these public networks, and the important role that transparency playsin building a community. Our community shouldn’t be an environment where competition and“one-upping” people is encouraged or emphasized, but rather a platform where our customers, partners, employees, or users feel comfortable sharing, connecting, and receiving help. The firststep in that is sharing useful information with them in as many ways as possible.To accomplish this, rather than telling you what the company thinks you should do, where possiblewe’ve reduced this policy to as a bare minimum list of possible of the things that you
mustn’t 
do soas to avoid any legal problem for you, Meru, or any member of the Meru community.We’ve tried to give you some guiding principles. Please read them and understand them, and you’ll be able to make your own decisions about what you should do in a new situation.
1.3Scope
You might well already do things like:
maintain a profile page on one of the social or business networking sites (like LinkedIn,Facebook, or MySpace);
comment on other people’s blogs for personal or business reasons;
leave product or service reviews on retailer sites, or customer review sites;
take part in online votes and polls; or 1
 
take part in conversations on public and private web forums (message boards).You may even have edited a Wikipedia page. Most of these activities can be grouped together under the heading “social media”

1.4Guiding Principles
1)Everything you say or write is available for public viewing, conduct yourself as you want to beviewed. “Respect” is the number one guiding principle.2)The web is not anonymous. Assume that everything you write can be traced back to thecompany, if not you personally.

3)There is no longer a clear boundary between your personal life and your work life.4)The web contains a permanent record of our mistakes. But do not try to change thingsretrospectively.Be honest, straightforward, and respectful, and you will enjoy everything you do on the web.

2.0Social Media Policy2.1All media
All your current responsibilities to the company remain in force. For the sake of clarity: whatever you do online:
it must not interfere with your work commitments;
you must not contain or link to libellous, defamatory or harassing content,
even by way of example or illustration

you must not publish information that is confidential or proprietary to Meru Networks, our  partners, or our customers; and
you must do nothing to bring the company into disrepute.
you must abide by your employment agreements with Meru Networks as it pertains tocompany, customer, or any other proprietary information.Furthermore:
you may not use the Meru Networks brand to endorse or promote any product, opinion, causeor political candidate; and
it must be abundantly clear to readers that all opinion is yours, and does not represent theviews of the company.
2.2Company blogs
The company blog strategy is evolving. As it opens up to more and more Meru community inputthe following blog policy information is contained here as part of the social media policy.
Posts must not contain or link to pornographic or indecent content
The company has the right to remove any content
Employees must not use company blogs to promote personal projects. Links to your socialmedia presences can be included in your blogger profile, and on your byline.
All materials published or used must respect the copyright of third parties
