The Associated Programme on Flood Management (APFM) is a jointinitiative of the World Meteorological Organization and the Global WaterPartnership. It promotes the concept of Integrated Flood Management(IFM) as a new approach to flood management. The programme is finan-cially supported by the governments of Japan and the Netherlands.The World Meteorological Organization is a Specialized Agency of theUnited Nations. It co-ordinates the meteorological and hydrological serv-ices of 185 countries and territories and as such is the centre ofknowledge about weather, climate and water.The Global Water Partnership is an international network open to allorganizations involved in water resources management. It was created in1996 to foster Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).
