Shakespeares Globe and the London International Antiquarian Book Fair have joined forces

The 54th London International Antiquarian Book Fair at Olympia, held from 9 11 June 2011 at the Olympia Exhibition Centre, has joined forces with the iconic London theatre, Shakespeares Globe, to help promote the building of the worlds leading Shakespeare research centre and library.
The Book Fair welcomes Shakespeares Globe as its new Charity Preview beneficiary for 2011. Shakespeares Globe has been bequeathed a priceless collection of early play texts, including Shakespeare quarto and folio editions, by John Wolfson, an internationally renowned private collector and honorary curator of Rare Books for Globe Education at Shakespeares Globe. John Wolfsons substantial world class collection has been built up since the 1970s and contains Restoration adaptations, Shakespeare sources, 16th, 17th and 18th century play texts and Shakespeare first, second, third and fourth folios. Shakespeares Globe is looking towards providing a library and archive which will be a world class Shakespeare research centre and destination for scholarly research into Elizabethan and Jacobean society (in particular its playwrights, plays and playhouses). Why is the partnership between the Antiquarian Book Fair and Shakespeares Globe such a good match? At the fair, visitors find an unparalleled array of books and related material covering the vast range of collectors interests, from the genesis of printing in the 15th century to today. The fair offers first and rare editions of printed works of the highest collectors level for sale, among them exceptional works from the Elizabethan era, and is the leading destination for bibliophiles and collectors in Europe. The Organisers of the London International Antiquarian Book Fair and Shakespeares Globe hope to make this outstanding collection known to a wider public and help promote the building of this important and unique Shakespeare library in the UK.
