Celebrate the region’s diversityon July 18-19 at the 2009 SenecaAllegany Casino Veterans Pow Wow.The Pow Wow, held each summer atVeteran’s Park in Salamanca, will offerindividuals the chance to experienceauthentic Native American history andculture in a family friendly event.The Pow Wow is an all-day event,which will feature a Grand Entry atnoon on both days, after which thevarious performances will take place.Jackie Bowen, Seneca Nation of Indians treasurer, said the event wouldfeature real Native American arts andcrafts, authentic Native Americanfoods such as shortcakes, corn soup,and fried breads, and competitionsin traditional dancing, singing anddrumming. The participating vendorsfor the event are Native American, andthey will be selling authentic craftworkand souvenirs from various tribesacross the country.“The Pow Wow is a Native Americansocial event with religious undertonesthat developed as a way for thevarious native peoples to socialize andcommunicate regardless of languagebarriers,” Bowen said. “The varioustribes created dance steps, out
