Ring 50 Schedule
We are looking forward towelcoming back everyone to ourAugust meeting after our Fourth of July break. . I hope everyone had awonderful holiday. I know I didbecause my wife Lynn and I spentit at the IBM convention inNashville, Tenn.We had a great time. When wearrived we were blown away by theGaylord Hotel wherethe convention washeld. If you ever geta chance to make itto Nashville, staythere. I can’t reallydescribe the place inwords but I did takea video of it and youcan check it out onYouTube.com under my namelouismeyer or ChildTime Magic. Itwas right next door to the Grand OleOpry where my wife had anopportunity to take a backstage tour.I have never seen so many magiciansperform in just one week! Theevening lectures were fun but it wasthe performances that really madethis convention terrific.During the day you could watchcompetitions for close-up and stageperformers. Needless to say thesecompetitors spend A LOT of timeperfecting their eight-minuteroutines. It is so interesting to seeperformers from all over the world. The last three evenings hadmagic shows in the Grand OleOpry’s side theater. We saw Davidand Dania do their costume changeroutine, Kyle Eschen offer histeenage magic, Latimer give his lasershow routine and that was just thefirst show! The next evening was the stagecompetition show. After the sixcontenders performed theyannounced the winner.Lastly, there was the Magic of the Stars show featuring StevenBargatze, Juliana Chen, OscarMunoz (very funny) and Shimada. So now I am back home after the11- hour drive and getting back towork. I will be joined at our Augustmeeting by Dick Christian to presenta lecture on “An Anatomy of aMagic Show.” Coming up thefollowing month will be a chance tosee some of our members who don’tperform often to show their stuff.
