MT ROSKILL WAR MEMORIALCOMPETITION
The Mt Roskill War Memorial Upgradecompetition made the front page of our local Really Roskill publication. If you live
in the area, you’ve probably seen the copybut for those who haven’t the results are:
First place to Auckland Universitystudents Thomas Wenjie Huang, Pete PeiWang and Tina Xie because of its simple butattractive design that best providedfor the needs of Anzac Day. The chosenentry will now go to the design team of theParks Department of Auckland Citywho will use it as a starting place for the finaldesign that will be constructed in time for Anzac Day.The winners received a cheque for $500thanks to donations provided by New WorldMt Roskill, Westpac Bank Roskill Centre,Mad Butcher Roskill Centre and the MtRoskill (Puketapapa) Historical Society. Therunner up entry by Hannah Broatch and JiMin An received a cheque for $100 and $100worth of book vouchers. Residents will getthe opportunity to look at the winning entrieswhen they go on display later in the month atthe Mt Roskill Library and other venuesacross the Local Board area.(

The Post and Telegraph Departmenthas decided to change the name of the
Mt. Roskill Post Office to Kings PostOffice. This is considered advisable asthe neighbourhood is more familiarlyknown as Three Kings than Mt. Roskill.

Itproposed that legislation be passed thissession to amend the law to provide forall persons having a residentialqualification within the Mount Roskillroad district being given the right tosign a petition for the constitution of the Mount Roskill road district as aborough and to enable them to vote at
