IFA Results
Pima County One Stop
staff worked with SargentControls and Aerospace to create an Assembly Productiontraining program with Pima Community College. Trainingwill be held at Sargent Controls for groups of 8 – 10workers, with lab work woven into the training. The trainingwill be articulated and shared as part of the IFA RegionalCareer Ladder. The career ladder mapped by SargentControls moves from: 1. Entry Level Worker; 2. AssemblyProduction Worker; 3. Hydraulic Tech/Quality Tech; 4.Test Tech/Quality Assurance Tech/Mechanical Test Tech;5. Cell Leader; 6. Manufacturing Floor Line Supervisors.The company is providing a 50% in-kind match in trainingspace, equipment and employee wages while in training.
Funding: Innovation Frontier Arizona is funded by a $5 million WIRED grant and a $2 million Community Based Job Training Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. The IFA partners have identified an

The McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship
at theUniversity of Arizona piloted IdeaFair April-May 2009.This K-12 entrepreneurship curriculum uses the sciencefair model to equip students to identify a problem theycare about, decide who is impacted by the problem,forecast and test a possible solution to the problem, andcommunicate the results. Six teachers and 89 studentsparticipated in the pilot, using teacher guides, studentworkbooks and teaching aides developed by McGuirebased on regional surveys. Pilot outcomes will beassessed and a plan to merge into the school year will bedeveloped during summer 2009.

Workforce Development Model
The Arkansas Delta Training and Education Consortium(ADTEC) provides for a coordinated, regional responseto workforce development in the Arkansas Delta and isthe education and training arm of ADWIRED. ADTEC is apartnership of five community colleges: Arkansas NortheasternCollege, Blytheville; Arkansas State University – Newport;East Arkansas Community College, Forrest City; Mid-SouthCommunity College, West Memphis; and Phillips CommunityCollege of the University of Arkansas, Helena.
