October 8, 2013 Dear SWOT Members and City Wide Colleagues: Columbia Heights/Shaw Family Support Collaborative and

Bread for the City request your presence at an emergency meeting of Ward 1 and citywide service and program providers on Thursday, October 10 from 10:30am-12noon at Kennedy Center Recreation Center 1401 P Street NW. We appeal to all Executive Directors to attend or send a decision maker within your organization who can speak on your behalf. As the country enters day seven of the federal shutdown, we face the reality that many organizations will need to regroup, interrupt services, and/or close as we all try to cope with federal gridlock. For our children and their families the loss of essential services and access to resources will have serious consequences on a familys efforts to keep safe and remain stable. CH/SFSC, Strengthening Ward One Together (SWOT), Bread for the City, and our allies in frontline institutions respond to immediate needs of families in crisis and need, making this community livable. In the current situation, we must take the lead to address the immediate needs of our neighborhood. At this Emergency Meeting we will: 1 Share organizational action plans 2 Identify ways to share resources 3 Surface service and resource gaps 4 Ensure safeties planning for at-risk youth 5 Set up a mechanism to distribute information and updates as needed Use the link below to complete the organizational survey before the meeting.
