Your child’s milk teeth are at risk o decay (caries) i plaque – a sticky lm madeup o bacteria, ood debris and dead cells – is let on teeth. The tiny bacteria thatlive in plaque eed on sugars in the diet to orm acids, which attack enamel andcause decay. You might not be able to tell i your child has tooth decay just bylooking, as decay starts by destroying enamel below the surace.Because fuoride helps to prevent dental decay, encourage your child to brushregularly with a suitable children’s fuoride toothpaste designed or their agegroup. This will help protect teeth and strengthen tooth enamel rom the insideout. Ask your dentist i fuoride is added to your water supply.
