NPA-NXX Administration
The term NPA.NXX refers to the first six digits of a phone number, or prefix, as derived from the North American Number Plan (NANP). The area code is also referred to as a Number Plan Area or NPA. NXX refers to the exchange, which is the three digits following the area code. Each telephone number in the United States has an area code and exchange combination (NPA-NXX). For example, the NPA-NXX for the telephone number 1714-555-1212 is 714-555. In a case where a number or number series in a previously unprovisioned exchange is to be ported, the entire NPA-NXX must be opened for porting first. Once you request the provisioning of a new NPA-NXX, the entire group of 10,000 numbers is available for porting by any service provider. With TNM, a user with the appropriate permissions can add or delete NPANXXs. NPA - NXX performs the following activities: "Add NPA-NXX" on page 4-21 "Search NPA-NXX" on page 4-23 "Delete NPA-NXX" on page 4-24
Add NPA-NXX
To add a new NPA - NXX, complete the following procedure: 1. 2. Click Administration on the homepage. The Administration options are displayed. Click NPA - NXX option. The NPA - NXX Administration window is displayed as shown in the Figure 4-16.
