In this report, Lawful Interception (LI) describes the lawfullyauthorized interception and monitoring of telecommunicationspursuant to an order of a government body, to obtain the forensics necessary for pursuing wrongdoers. LI has existed fromthe times of shortrange telegraphy to today’s worldspanningNext-Generation Networks (NGNs). The report studies thetechnical concepts underlying LI, and describes existingstandardization done in this field.
