Todos nuestros electricistas estn entrenados para atender casos de electrocucin. Tenemos detectados y evaluados todos los riesgos elctricos en el programa de salud ocupacional. Nuestro pararrayos se dise con el mtodo electrogeomtrico, considerando la densidad de rayos a tierra y la corriente mxima. Tenemos un sistema de proteccin contra rayos. Mi empresa posee unas puestas a tierra excelentes y unificadas. Construimos igual una puesta a tierra para baja o alta frecuencia. Hacemos mantenimiento anual de las puestas a tierra. La gravedad de una descarga elctrica en el ser humano depende de muchos factores, pero ocasiona desde un malestar hasta la muerte. Recordemos que el hombre es un buen conductor de la electricidad. La resistencia normalizada del ser humano se toma de 1000 ohmios. Experimentalmente se mide entre las dos manos sumergidas en solucin salina, que agarran dos electrodos y parado sobre una placa de cobre. El fenmeno de rigidez muscular que se presenta al paso de corriente se llama tetanizacin.

El corazn es un msculo y la parte ms vital de nuestro cuerpo. La corriente estimada como mnima mortal es de 25 miliamperios, si al pasar por el corazn produce fibrilacin ventricular. Una persona sobrevive ms fcil a una descarga por encima de 3 amperios que a una de 0.1 amperios. Se estima que la fibrilacin es reversible si el tiempo de contacto es menor de 0.15 segundos. El ciclo cardiaco dura aproximadamente 0.75 segundos. Se acepta en la prctica que corrientes de 30 mA durante un segundo no producen dao irreversible. Siempre se presentan en mayor o menor grado 3 efectos cuando circula corriente por el cuerpo: Nervioso, qumico y calorfico. Conviene tener presente en una emergencia, que la muerte por electrocucin, en general no es sbita. Existen dos causas bsicas de muerte por electrocucin: La suspencin respiratoria y la paralizacin del corazn. Lo mismo que en los casos de ahogamiento, el mtodo ms eficaz para dar primeros auxilios es la respiracin boca a boca y el masaje cardaco. En todo circuito elctrico estn presentes; la tensin (en voltios), la intensidad de corriente (en amperios) y la resistencia (en ohmios). En los elementos conductores (como el hombre), la conductividad de la corriente va paralela a la humedad. Tenga presente que la resistencia del cuerpo humano es de slo 1000 ohmios. La fase o lnea VIVA no debe ser tocada en lo posible. Los plsticos, la madera seca y las sogas secas son excelentes aislantes y los puede necesitar para rescatar a alguien. El fenmeno que se presenta en los baos elctricos se llama tetanizacin o rigidez muscular. El corazn es un msculo y la parte ms vital de nuestro cuerpo. La corriente mnima mortal es de 25 miliamperios si al pasar por el corazn produce fibrilacin ventricular. Elementos primordiales de una red elctrica: Fases, fusible, neutro y tierra. Como 24 voltios es la tensin capaz de producir una corriente de 24 miliamperios, es la mxima tensin seguro. Una persona sobrevive ms fcil a una descarga por encima de 3 amperios que a una de 0.1 amperios. Siempre se presentan en mayor o menor grado tres efectos cuando circula corriente por el cuerpo: Nervioso, qumico y calorfico. Cuando accidentalmente una persona quede adherida a una red elctrica, retrela lo antes posible; evitando obviamente que a usted le circule corriente. Tenga presente en una emergencia que la muerte por electrocucin, en general no es sbita.

Existen dos causas bsicas de muerte por electrocucin: respiratoria y la paralizacin del corazn.
La suspensin
Lo mismos que en los casos de ahogamiento, el mtodo ms eficaz para dar primeros auxilios es la respiracin boca a boca y el masaje cardaco. Nunca toque un equipo elctrico con los pies descalzos. Cuando ingiera bebidas, aljese de la corriente. Inspeccione frecuentemente las instalaciones elctricas y evitar dolores de cabeza. En instalaciones elctricas, por favor, no haga arreglos provisionales o improvisaciones. En su empresa y en su casa, conecta a tierra las carcasas metlicas de los equipos. Use y reemplace los fusibles correctamente. No recargue las instalaciones con tomacorrientes mltiples. Trabajar sobre redes energizadas requiere personal y equipo especializado. Electrodos de Puesta a Tierra: El estudio de resistividad del terreno determina el tipo de electrodos, siempre buscando su menor valor. Para sistemas de tierras superficiales, se utilizarn como electrodos los contrapesos o mallas de 2m x 2m en el cable de cobre desnudo No. 2 AWG, con varios cuerpos. Los electrodos tipo varilla, que son los ms utilizados, se pueden enterrar en diversos tamaos, con un mximo de 6m, pero en todo caso ser de cobre slido o con recubrimiento electroltico de 250m y como mnimo de 5/8x 2.4 m. Estructura Metlica de Edificios: Tambin debe conectarse a tierra en el barraje equipotencial. Estudio de Resistividad del Terreno: En todas las instalaciones donde se vaya a construir un Sistema de puesta a tierra, se realizar previamente un estudio de la resistividad del terreno por el mtodo Wenner. Se adopta la siguiente clasificacin de terrenos para efectos de mejoramiento.

Evaluacin del Grado de Riesgo: Antes de tomar decisiones que ocasionen gastos innecesarios, es obligatorio presentar una evaluacin del grado de riesgo frente a rayos. Se sugiere la metodologa ya presentada de la norma colombiana o la de la NFPA 780. Formas de Conexin: Se ha implementado la conexin por medio de cable aislado color verde a un slo punto de la malla para equipos sensibles, con el fin de evitar diferencias de potencial peligrosos dentro del saln de equipos y en todos los casos evitando lazos de tierra. Algunos artculos respaldan este concepto. Tambin se requiere que todo elemento quede interconectado al sistema de puesta a tierra. Grupo de Medida: Siempre se debe aterrizar a la parte del Sistema de puesta a tierra ms cercano con cable no. 2 como mnimo. Guiaondas: Se aterrizarn en la parte baja de la torre, en la entrada al cuarto de equipos y en torres de ms de 50 m, se aterrizarn adicionalmente en la parte intermedia. Halo de Reparticin de Tierras: Se dejar slo en cuartos de comunicacin en la parte superior, totalmente aislado de la pared y asegurado, con una sola conexin

aislada al barraje equipotencial. Se partir dejndolo con un gap o separacin de un centmetro dentro de una manguera. Interconexin de Tierras: Es requisito indispensable la equipotencializacin de todos los componentes de los sistemas de puesta a tierra y su interconexin debe ser tal, que no exista ms de 0.5 ohmios entre los extremos ms lejanos. Mallas de Cerramiento: Se deben aterrizar en por lo menos cuatro puntos con cable de cobre No. 2; asegurndola en la parte inferior (ngulo) con conector del tipo tornillo bristol a presin o en su defecto a los tubos con tornillo pasante en bronce. Medicin del Sistema de Puesta a Tierra: Como parte del control de calidad del sistema de puesta a tierra se harn mediciones de resistencia de puesta a tierra de cada sitio, con telurmetro de ms de 1000 Hz, 20 kW y precisin de 0.01 empleando algunos de los mtodos aceptados por la ingeniera. Para los casos de mejoramiento, se har antes y despus del proceso. Pararrayos o Puntas de Captacin: Se recomiendan slo pararrayos tipo Franklin, por ser los nicos que estn respaldados ampliamente por la ingeniera elctrica mundial y por la norma colombiana de proteccin contra rayos. Su ubicacin se establece segn el mtodo electrogeomtrico, es decir, debe ser el elemento metlico ms alto. Si la edificacin requiere de varios, su zona de proteccin se determinar haciendo rodar una esfera imaginaria. Para edificios con estructura en metal, pueden no requerirse. Plantas de Emergencia: Siempre se deben aterrizar a la parte del Sistema de puesta a tierra ms cercano con cable No. 2 como mnimo. Protecciones Finas: Se puede implementar en dos etapas, segn la norma ANSI C62.41. Se ubicar la tipo C en la acometida y la tipo B junto a la transferencia. Quirfanos: Se construir una malla en el piso, en lminas de bronce con retculas de 15 a 20 cm. Recepcin De Obras: Para facilitar la recepcin de obras por parte de quien haga la interventora, siempre deber realizarse con base en una lista de comprobacin. El valor de la resistencia debe ser el adecuado para cada tipo de instalacin. La variacin de la resistencia debida a cambios ambientales debe ser mnima. Su vida til debe ser mayor de 20 aos. Debe ser resistente a la corrosin. Su costo debe ser el ms bajo posible, sin que se comprometa la seguridad. Debe permitir su mantenimiento peridico. Cumplir los requerimientos de las normas y especificaciones.

En la prctica de la ingeniera actual, las conexiones del neutro que se recomiendan son: En sistemas de 600 V o menos se utiliza la conexin directa o slida a tierra. En sistemas desde 2.5 kV hasta 5 kV se emplea conexin con alta resistencia de puesta a tierra, para limitar la corriente de falla entre 5 y 10 Amperios. En sistemas desde 5 kV hasta 15 kV se emplea conexin con baja resistencia de puesta a tierra, para limitar la corriente de falla entre 100 y 200 Amperios. Para sistemas de ms de 15 kV se emplea conexin directa a tierra. En sistemas elctricos para industrias que manejen procesos continuos, donde las prdidas por una interrupcin son elevadas, se emplea sistema con neutro aislado o aterrizado a travs de una alta resistencia. Para generadores, se tiene muy extendido el concepto de aterrizar a travs de un reactor (transformador monofsico) en conjunto con una resistencia de carga en el secundario. Para sistemas ya construidos sin neutro (delta o estrella con neutro flotante) se emplean autotransformadores trifsicos, conectados en zig zag, del tipo seco y refrigerados con aire.

Tambin llamadas errantes, parsitas o vagabundas se pueden presentar por diversas causas, como por ejemplo: Transformadores desbalanceados, cercas elctricas, rayos, cables rotos, aislamientos inadecuados, aislamientos desgastados, cortocircuitos, vas electrificadas, accin galvnica, protecciones galvnicas, tensiones inducidas, circuitos de bateras, electrosttica o radio frecuencia. Sus efectos pueden ser tan nocivos para los equipos como mortales para quien no sepa las tcnicas para medir correctamente una puesta a tierra. Medidas de Mitigacin
polarizacin espontnea que provocan campos elctricos por fenmenos de difusinabsorcin, filtracin o de oxidacin-reduccin. La intensidad de estos campos se agrupa en el parmetro llamado Actividad electroqumica. Adsorcin: Atraccin de un cuerpo y retencin en su superficie de molculas o iones de otro cuerpo. En la prctica se da por la interaccin qumica entre las diferentes sustancias que facilitan el paso de corriente en el suelo. Es una caracterstica de adherencia de un material. Anisotropa: La estructura particular de las rocas provoca la variacin de la resistividad en funcin de la direccin. Este fenmeno se acrecienta en las rocas compuestas de varias capas, en las cuales la resistividad ser mayor en la direccin transversal y menor a lo largo de la estratificacin. Este fenmeno (propiedades fsicas diferentes en todas las direcciones) se cuantifica con el Coeficiente de Anisotropa que relaciona las resistividades longitudinal y transversal. Capacidad de intercambio catinico (CIC): Es una expresin del nmero de sitios de adsorcin de cationes por unidad de peso del suelo. La capacidad de intercambio de cationes puede ser definida como la medida de la cantidad de cargas negativas del suelo. Algunos autores la definen como el nmero total de posiciones intercambiables, pero esta definicin tiene el problema de prestarse a confusiones con el intercambio de aniones. La CIC se expresa en miliequivalentes/100 gramos de suelo secado al horno. Se requiere con el fin de conocer la facilidad de migracin de un material. Compactacin y presin del suelo: Un suelo ms compacto presenta una mayor continuidad fsica, lo que en principio facilita una mejor conductividad, siempre y cuando se llegue a las capas de menor resistividad. Por lo anterior es recomendable esperar un cierto tiempo despus de hecha la instalacin para realizar la medicin oficial de su resistencia. Composicin del terreno: Los rangos de resistividad, segn la composicin del terreno son muy amplios. En un sitio determinado, no es posible dar los valores de resistividad hasta no hacer la medicin. Sucede, incluso, que para una misma clase de terreno, situada en distintas regiones, la resistividad puede ser sensiblemente diferente. Concentracin de sales: Siendo la resistividad de un suelo dependiente de la cantidad de agua retenida en ste, y conocindose el hecho de que la resistividad del agua est gobernada por las sales disueltas en sta (conduccin electroltica), se concluye que la resistividad del suelo es influenciada por la cantidad y tipo de sales disueltas en esta agua. Densidad: Es un parmetro que debe controlarse con el fin de asegurar que se manejan materiales higroscpicos, que tiene relacin directa con la porosidad.

Factor de formacin: La relacin entre la resistividad de la roca y la resistividad en presencia de un electrolito saturante se conoce como factor de formacin. Los factores de formacin se incrementan a medida que la porosidad decrece, lo cual es lgico, ya que a menor cantidad de poros menor cantidad de electrolitos conductores. Frecuencia: Se ha asumido que la conductividad es independiente de la frecuencia del campo elctrico inducido. Esto es cierto en las rocas sedimentarias. Pero en las rocas gneas, metamrficas y sedimentarias con contenido de minerales metlicos o arcillosos, esto NO es cierto. Entre las causas de esta dependencia se encuentran el efecto dielctrico normal, la respuesta electrocintica de las burbujas de aire que estn dentro de la roca, la polarizacin de electrodos y la polarizacin de membrana. Estratificacin del suelo: La composicin del suelo es generalmente estratificada en varias capas o formaciones diferentes (consecuentemente de resistividades diferentes). Este hecho presenta una contradiccin con muchos textos y memorias de clculo de proyectos, donde se asume que el suelo es uniforme. Granulometra del suelo: La resistividad del suelo est influenciada por la dimensin y la presencia de granos de diversos tamaos. Se consideran dos aspectos: La capacidad de retencin de agua en las capas del suelo y la continuidad fsica del suelo. En ambos casos la influencia de una granulometra mayor tiende a aumentar la resistividad debido a la menor capacidad de retencin de agua en el suelo, dejndola fluir hacia capas ms profundas o evaporarse: menor contacto entre los granos resultando una menor continuidad elctrica. Humedad del suelo: La resistividad del suelo disminuye en la medida que aumente la humedad del suelo. Posibilita los procesos electrolticos necesarios para dispersar la carga elctrica que es absorbida por la tierra. Nivel Fretico: Como se ha puesto de manifiesto, se presentan muchas variables interrelacionadas e interactuantes cuando de puestas a tierra se trata. Dado que los SPT se instalan en zanjas de 0.5 m de profundidad o los electrodos se entierran hasta 6 m, es necesario determinar con anterioridad cul es el nivel fretico particular del sitio y consecuentemente clasificar el nivel de corrosividad. Permeabilidad magntica (): Es la relacin entre la induccin magntica y la intensidad de campo magntico. Es el smil de la conductividad elctrica. En materiales paramagnticos es un poco superior a la unidad y para los diamagnticos es ligeramente inferior. Pero alcanza valores elevados (como el caso del ferrosilicio) segn la intensidad del campo. Est estrechamente ligada a la determinacin de impedancias frente a fenmenos de alta frecuencia. Permitividad (): La permitividad relativa o constante dielctrica es una medida de la polarizabilidad de un material en un campo elctrico, cuantifica el efecto del medio sobre las fuerzas con que se atraen dos placas cargadas en forma opuesta.

Medida en el vaco, es igual a uno. Para lquidos y gases, se estima determinando la relacin entre la capacidad de un condensador provisto de un dielctrico determinado y la capacidad del mismo cuando se usa el aire. La constante dielctrica del agua a la temperatura ambiente es de 80.37 lo que significa que dos cargas elctricas opuestas en el agua se atraen mutuamente con una fuerza 80 veces inferior que si estuviesen en el aire o vaco. Esto hace que algunos cristales puedan disociarse en el agua con gran facilidad. Esta propiedad tiene gran influencia en la distribucin de las corrientes alternas. Segn datos experimentales, las rocas difcilmente pasan de 30 (arena). Polarizacin o polarizabilidad: La corriente al pasar por una roca la polariza, lo que provoca una variacin del potencial en el medio. Estos potenciales se denominan Potenciales de Polarizacin Provocada y la intensidad de los mismos da origen al parmetro. Siempre que haya un cambio en el modo de conduccin de corriente, por ejemplo de inica a metlica, se requiere una energa que haga que la corriente fluya a travs de la interfase. Esta barrera energtica puede ser considerada como una impedancia elctrica. Porosidad: La porosidad, denotada como , es la fraccin del volumen total de roca correspondiente al espacio poral. Las porosidades se clasifican de acuerdo al ordenamiento fsico del material que encierra un poro y a la distribucin y forma de los poros. La dependencia entre la resistividad y la porosidad se expresa con frmulas muy complejas. Potencial de Hidrogeno (pH): Este trmino fue introducido por Srensen en 1909 para expresar las actividades de los iones H + aH + como una funcin logartmica. El pH puede definirse como:

Cuando la concentracin de H + es igual a la concentracin de OH se dice que el medio es neutro. Un medio cido es aquel en que la concentracin de iones H + es mayor que la concentracin de OH . Medio bsico es el que tiene la concentracin de H + menor que la concentracin de OH . Segn esto, el agua es una sustancia neutra a 25 o C. y el pH de la neutralidad es 7. A temperaturas diferentes la neutralidad se presenta a otros valores de pH . En puestas a tierra, es importante su control para no exponer a los electrodos a una corrosin excesiva. Potencial de ionizacin: Es la energa que se necesita comunicar a un electrn para separarlo de un tomo, removindose aquel retenido con menor intensidad. Se produce as un ion cargado positivamente y un electrn libre. La energa necesaria se llama energa de ionizacin o potencial de ionizacin y se expresa en electrnvoltios. Los elementos alcalinos como Li, Na o K poseen baja energa de ionizacin y son fuertemente electropositivos (tendencia a perder electrones).

Solubilidad: Si se agrega un cristal de una sal u otra sustancia al agua, los dipolos de sta ejercen fuerzas de atraccin sobre los iones, obligando al cristal a romperse y sus molculas a ionizarse. Cuando esto ocurre se dice que dicha sustancia tiene solubilidad en agua. Si el agua contiene cido carbnico (lo ms comn) la solubilidad aumenta, como en los pases tropicales. Diferentes sustancias presentan mayor o menor solubilidad en agua, algunas son muy solubles como el NaCl y otras son insolubles como CaCO3. Las sustancias insolubles en agua son solubles en otra clase de solventes. En general, las sustancias tienden a disolverse en disolventes que le son qumicamente anlogos. La temperatura incrementa la solubiliddad de las sales en el agua, disminuyendo la resistividad. Temperatura del suelo: Este factor influye sobre la velocidad del movimiento de los iones. Una temperatura elevada (cerca de los 100 )C provoca evaporacin, disminuyendo la humedad del suelo y aumentando la resistividad. Por otro lado, al considerar que la resistividad del suelo es sensiblemente influenciada por el agua contenida en ste y que el agua posee un alto coeficiente negativo de temperatura, es un hecho que la resistividad tiende a crecer para temperaturas menores a 0C. Un aumento en la temperatura disminuye la viscosidad del agua lo que se traduce en un aumento de la movilidad de los iones disueltos en sta. El aumento de la movilidad inica hace que se produzca una disminucin de la resistividad en la roca. La cantidad de calor que se genera en un electrodo se divide en dos partes: La acumulada en el volumen de terreno en contacto directo con el electrodo (calor especifico de 1.75 x 106 ws/m3 C) y otra que la absorben las capas cercanas. Tipo de suelo: El suelo es un sistema complejo, naturalmente desarrollado en el que tienen lugar procesos fsicos, qumicos y biolgicos. Consiste de componentes slidos, lquidos y gaseosos irregularmente dispuestos, variadamente asociados y en proporciones diversas. La parte slida est formada por minerales, xidos hidratados, materia orgnica y organismos vivientes. Es la que posee mayor estabilidad y se usa para caracterizar el suelo. Algunos de sus materiales afectan fuertemente el comportamiento de su resistividad. Tixotropa: Es una propiedad muy particular de algunos coloides debida al hinchamiento (cristalino u osmtico) sobre el que influyen varios factores como el tiempo, la temperatura, las sales, la humedad o el espaciamiento basal. Esta propiedad le permite a los coloides ser capaces de licuarse y luego recuperar la forma slida por reposo. Establece la estabilidad de una suspensin.

Soldadura Exotrmica La anterior figura muestra los tipos de conexiones con soldadura exotrmica ms comunes y a continuacin se presenta un instructivo para su aplicacin. Normas de Seguridad

Aunque el entrenamiento es corto, slo personal capacitado y entrenado debe aplicar esta soldadura. La plvora que se usa como iniciador es un material inflamable. Manjela con sumo cuidado, alejndola de fuentes de calor o chispas. Recuerde que los materiales no son explosivos, ni su ignicin es espontnea. Se requieren 425 0C para la plvora y 800 0C para la soldadura. Est totalmente prohibido fumar para quienes manipulen la soldadura exotrmica. Los humos generados no son txicos, pero s densos, por lo que debe evitarse su inhalacin. Use siempre mascarillas contra humos. Como se originan temperaturas altas, es obligatorio el uso de guantes de cuero. Si la va a aplicar en reas clasificadas como peligrosas, debe hacerlo con moldes aprobados para este uso. (Ref. Exoln) Almacene la soldadura en un lugar fresco y seco, para prolongar su vida til. Si no deja las superficies limpias y secas, la soldadura es de mala calidad. El transporte por cualquier medio no representa peligro.
Se puede utilizar con cables, electrodos o platinas. Efecte los cortes de materiales con una mnima deformacin. En cables aislados, retire parte del encauchetado (aproximadamente 3 cm). Limpie y seque al mximo las partes que van a soldarse, con telas limpias y cepillos. Si hay presencia de grasa, retrela completamente con un solvente. Si las condiciones ambientales son de elevada humedad relativa, seque el molde con un soplete, antes de la primera conexin.
Limpie y seque las superficies al mximo. Retire toda presencia de xido, limpiando hasta que el metal adquiera brillo. Para superficies galvanizadas, basta con remover el xido Retire toda pintura de la zona a soldar.
Acondicione el rea de trabajo, despejando todo elemento movimientos libres. Asegrese que el molde est limpio, seco y libre de escorias.

Asegrese que el cartucho y el molde son los adecuados al tamao de los conductores que va a soldar. Aloje los conductores correctamente en el lugar que les corresponde en el molde. Si se presenta tensin en los cables, asegrelos con un dispositivo mecnico mientras la aplica. Cierre el molde y asegrelo con la pinza. Verifique la hermeticidad del molde y la posicin de los conductores. Si lo considera, deje marcas en los cables para verificar su posicin. Coloque el disco de acero sobre el hueco, de tal manera que lo tape y que no deje pasar soldadura a la parte inferior. Destape el cartucho y vierta la soldadura en la cavidad del molde. Aplique el iniciador o plvora sobre la soldadura; haciendo camino hasta el borde, debajo de la tapa. Verifique nuevamente la posicin de los conductores. Cierre la tapa del molde y accione el encendedor, separando la cara y retirando la mano rpidamente. Espere 30 segundos. Abra el molde, retrelo y colquelo en una superficie seca. Retire la escoria y los residuos. Efecte el control de calidad de la soldadura. Limpie sistemticamente el molde, con un papel, antes de la prxima soldadura. Si emplea moldes desechables, rompa la cermica y verifique la calidad.

Repita la soldadura si no presenta la uniformidad del molde. Repita la soldadura si presenta porosidad superior al 20% de su superficie o penetracin de un clip hasta el cable. D un par de golpes fuertes con un martillo, la soldadura debe resistir. Un molde de buena calidad y bien cuidado puede durarle en promedio 50 soldaduras. No aplique un gramaje distinto al especificado en el molde. Utilice solamente materiales y accesorios originales.

MEDICIN DE EQUIPOTENCIALIDAD
Aunque es un concepto que en rigor cientfico solo se cumple para corriente continua y para electrosttica, en toda instalacin con sistema de puesta a tierra, es muy importante equipotencializar todas sus partes. Los tres criterios bsicos el respecto son:

Mxima resistencia para una conexin de puesta a tierra: 10 m Mxima resistencia aceptada para un enlace equipotencial: 0.1 Mxima resistencia entre los puntos extremos de un SPT: 1.0 .
reducen la resistividad del concreto de manera confiable y significativa, existen algunos eficaces para este propsito. Un caso ya estudiado para disminuir la resistencia del concreto, es aadiendo negro de humo de acetileno (del 2 al 3% por peso del cemento). Tambin se ha ensayado la mezcla de Favigel al 15% con muy buen comportamiento en su respuesta a altas frecuencias. Introducir electrodos al concreto: Ms conocidos como sistemas UFER, consisten en hacer un tipo de malla con alambres de cobre e introducirlos en el concreto armado. Esta tcnica fue desarrollada por un funcionario del ejercito de E.U. durante la segunda guerra mundial, para los cuartos de almacenamiento de bombas en Arizona. Se basa en introducir alambres de cobre largos (10 m) dentro del concreto y unirlos al acero de refuerzo de la cimentacin. Debe tenerse siempre presente que es una tcnica complementaria a la de contrapesos, es decir, que donde se implemente una tierra Ufer, deben construirse contrapesos. Utilizar electrodos qumicos: Este tipo de electrodos se usa desde 1987. Son tubos perforados rellenos de sales, que han demostrado su gran efectividad inicial y su corta vida til. Con tierra negra: Bajo la falsa creencia que el color del suelo determina la resistividad, se emplea este artificio sin garanta alguna. Adems es difcil de mantener donde no hay una capa de suelo vegetal natural (terrenos rocosos). Ver el ejemplo real de resistividad en un suelo negro y hmedo en el Captulo III. Con sales: Tiene corta duracin por su lixiviacin rpida (migracin) y contaminacin con otros elementos. Con carbn vegetal o mineral: No permite bajar sustancialmente la resistencia de puesta a tierra, sobretodo por el tamao de partcula. Un carbn de partculas muy finas tiene una resistividad de 1.8 -m Con grafito: Es un relleno tcnicamente vlido, pero muy costoso. Con bentonita sdica: Ha mostrado un buen comportamiento mientras no se presenten fallas ya que se torna hidrofbica. Sus dos mayores inconvenientes lo constituyen la necesidad de hidratarla con agitacin mecnica y que luego de una falla se seca, sin retomar la humedad por s sola. Su resistividad con el 300% de humedad es de 2.5 -m Con suelos artificiales: Es la respuesta de la industria a la necesidad de obtener buenas resistencias de puesta a tierra. Existen varios productos en diferentes pases con diversos nombres comerciales, como Amelioterre, Aterragel, Backfill, Chemrod, FAVIGEL, Erico-gel, Gaf, Gem-25, Laborgel, Polyrod, Power Fill, Sanick-gel, Sankosha, Stockosorf, TerraDyne, TerraFill, X-lit, etc.). Al respecto, es importante aclarar que an no se tiene una normalizacin internacional para especificar un suelo artificial.
