n July 20, 2012, our company celebrated its silver anniversary, marking 25 years of operation. Ours is a compelling story beginning with an improbable
startup at the lowest point of the oil and gas industry in 1987. Over the next quarter century we grew from our three founders and Gulf of Mexico roots to a global organization of more than 7,500 Mustangers with offices in the worlds most active energy centers. We have become recognized in the industry for our people oriented culture and as leaders and innovators for project accomplishments being first, deepest, lightest and unique.

This past year has been particularly gratifying as we have merged two respected leaders Mustang and Alliance- into a new, single entity with unequalled capabilities and possibilities. The integration effort has been huge, but, as they have done so many times before, our people rose to the occasion to the job done right on a fast track timetable. Bringing the two organizations together has also provided some opportunities to restructure and form the basis of a company with an exciting future. We have been able to thoroughly examine our work practices. We have added significant capabilities in project services, IT, information management and other support services and aligned our incredible talent pool into a team that can continue to deliver the highest level of project quality. We commend our Mustangers for their continued striving for excellence in everything they do. We thank YOU for being our support, our partners and a major reason for our success. We look forward to working closely with you as we move toward future milestones.

What We Do
In serving clients and the industry, Wood Group Mustangs Market Research Team and supporting departments have been recognized as a repository for critical data, made available through industry trade publications. In conjunction with the Marketing Communications
Team, and through a 15-year relationship with Pennwell Publishing Company, Wood Group Mustang has produced more than 50 industry wall posters filled with detailed information on a broad variety of technologies. These posters have been disseminated as an insert in issues of Offshore Magazine and at industry trade shows. During that period, almost three million posters have been distributed as a service to the offshore oil and gas industry. Continual requests for additional copies are filled by Marketing Communications and are a testament to their value to the recipients. Wood Group Mustang has also provided the consulting, descriptive information and CAD drawings for more than 10 poster topics used in Oil & Gas Journal showing the components and operation of refinery processes and other industry applications. Copies of these posters have been disseminated to more than one million industry personnel receiving the magazine, at trade shows and by direct request. They are in high demand and have served a broad audience, providing a visual for training and information, understood by industry veterans and non-technical personnel alike. The Market Research Team has provided unique analyses for clients in helping them with project planning. An example of this external client support was the comprehensive market analysis conducted for Exmar Offshore Company. Wood Group Mustang assisted the client in determining the number of viable Gulf of Mexico and international prospects for its OPTI-EX re-deployable semi-submersible floating production unit (FPU). The vital information collected during the concept study/pre-FEED phase of the project provided the client with a clear understanding of its potential market and the production capabilities necessary to make the project successful. It identified fields with known reserves in pre-development, within a given water depth range and in reasonable proximity to hubs and existing pipelines. The intelligence determined that there were a sizable number of candidates, including the block in Mississippi Canyon offshore Louisiana where it was ultimately deployed. Intelligence gathering, market research, writing, publishing and dissemination are all part of the Wood Group Mustang offering. Internally, we conduct market research, surveys and analyses to assist Wood Group Mustangs business units in business planning, global account management, risk mitigation, joint venture partner identification, strategic alliance formation and other necessary functions. This information helps the business units deploy assets efficiently, better understand clients to serve their needs, and assists project planning and staffing.
Wood Group Mustangs market analysis assisted in identifying viable GOM blocks for the Exmar/LLOG FPU.
Who Contributes
Contributions for market research and intelligence gathering are made by Mustangers throughout the organization. Wood Groups Market Research Team takes the lead in many of the activities, providing necessary data for internal and external use. The Market Research group provides market data, competitor intelligence, client insight, country studies and acquisition support across Wood Group Mustang. The Marketing Communications Team, overseen by Dena Lee as its manager, has long been instrumental in developing relationships with notable industry publications, working with them to develop topics and intelligence gathering for industry clients. They have facilitated the data posters, conducted surveys and written companion articles to the posters created. They have also interfaced on specialized informational posters that illustrate the stages and process flows of operations as diverse as downstream refinery hydrotreaters, pipeline compressor stations, and deepwater topsides production facilities. Wood Group Mustangs process, structural and mechanical engineers, and piping designers all play instrumental roles in the development of these industry posters. They provide the technical information, 3D drawings and descriptions for these varied processes.
The Future
As Wood Group Mustang continues to expand in traditional and new market segments both domestically and internationally, the need for market intelligence becomes increasingly valuable. The demands for market information among our five business units will grow. Similarly we are poised to continue our offering of valuable data and technical information to industry clients, vendors, service companies, fabricators and other partners as a needed service that has received exceptional interest and appreciation.

Some 10% to 20% of U.S. residents contract the flu each year. That results in about 114,000 hospitalizations on average. Annually, the flu and its complications kill approximately 36,000 Americans. Nasty bug, isnt it? The virus more formal name is influenza. It attacks the respiratory system, bringing on symptoms including fever, headache, exhaustion, sore throat, congestion and aching. Most people recover within a few weeks, but some get worse, contracting diseases such as pneumonia. The thing of it is this. If you are otherwise healthy, and between the ages of 2 and 65, chances are youll bounce back good as new. Yet getting a flu shot is an annual ritual for many people concerned about their health. Is it worth the fuss?
Heres where it gets complicated. Type A viruses are divided into subtypes, depending on the nature of two proteins found on the virus surface. There are 15 different hemagglutinin (H) subtypes and nine different neuraminidase (N) subtypes. So you can have A(H1N1) or A(H3N2) or a number soup of others. Thats a lot of potential combinations to protect against!
Because flu strains change frequently, antibodies developed from vaccination or experience with the virus are rendered useless over time. As a result, people can contract the flu frequently throughout their lifetimes. Part of the flu fright is based on the virus getting out of hand. Three times in the last century, an influenza
pandemic occurred, infecting people all over the planet. These were the Spanish Flu of 1918, the Asian Flu of 1957 and the Hong Kong Flu of 1968. Altogether they killed more than 600,000 Americans and millions more around the world.
Drug manufacturers have created some prescription medications approved for treating the flu, but each can cause side effects including lightheadedness, nervousness or nausea. Certain homeopathic remedies have been clinically proven to shorten the duration of the flu cycle.
18
combat the most common strains, can be taken. If you choose to take a flu shot, the most effective time is typically between mid-October and mid-November a month or two before the traditional flu season begins. The vaccination is generally about 75% effective.
Vaccine proponents admit to certain mild side effects, including soreness at the shot site and occasional fever, tiredness and sore muscles. But some opponents, such as Dr. Randall Neustaedter in his book The Vaccine Guide, contend the inoculation is useless and only serves
to let peoples guard down from careful practices to avoid contracting the flu. Indeed, an unpublished study of 793 children aged 6 to 24 months presented at a 2002 meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies reported no real difference in the number of ear infections, antibiotic prescriptions or sick days taken between those taking the vaccination and those taking a placebo. Another 2002 study, in Sweden of older asthmatic children, found no difference in the severity of asthma attacks between those taking flu shots and those taking a placebo.
The CDC states the American flu vaccine is made from inactive flu viruses, meaning it is incapable of causing the flu. But because the vaccine is limited to certain strains of the bug, even those vaccinated could still be susceptible to other flu viruses. And the CDC admits the vaccine is less effective for otherwise healthy children and adults than for seniors or people who are already sick. As a result, theres no easy answer to the question of fighting the flu. But keeping yourself clean and resting will help you ditch the bug, even if you are unfortunate enough to catch it.

ood Group Mustangs commitment to the Middle East began more than 20 years ago designing oil & gas production facilities. With this commitment came significant regional growth, with local bases of operations in Abu Dhabi and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our success stems from a unique approach that combines local skills and experience with support from Wood Group Mustang centres of excellence in Houston, London and Kuala Lumpur to serve the project requirements of our clients in the region. Our clients benefit from our ability to deliver multiple services through one family of companies as we partner with our sister companies, Wood Group Kenny and Wood Group PSN. In Saudi Arabia, we provide world-class services to a wide range of clients through Mustang-HDP, an engineering and project management company with more than 700 people in three locations in Al-Khobar. Preparations are underway to
expand our presence to Jeddah to better serve the rapid growth along the west coast of the Kingdom. Mustang-HDP unites Mustang with three prominent and highly respected Saudi Arabian engineering businesses dedicated to in-Kingdom work, each with more than 20 years of experience. From providing construction supervision and project management services for the King Faisal Specialist Hospital expansion projects, to our signicant experience in gas & oil separation plants (GOSP units) and bulk plants (terminal and storage facilities), upstream and downstream oil & gas projects, hydrocarbon and water pipelines, and renery and petrochemical projects , our history is built on successful partnerships and satised clients.
30
Mustang-HDP recently opened a new ofce dedicated specically to automation, security systems and telecommunication engineering that includes the rst vendor-neutral automation integration center in the Middle East. With over 100 dedicated professionals and more telecom engineers than anyone else in the Kingdom, this modern facility includes a certied climate-controlled equipment staging area designed for conguration and testing of DCS/PLC, telecom, security systems and other microprocessor-based control systems. The new ofce includes an external staging area for assembly and testing of process instrumentation buildings (PIBs), analyser shelters, metering skids and other skid-based control equipment. Mustang-HDP has responded to the growing demand for environmental services, including soil and groundwater remediation. Through cooperative alliances and personnel exchanges with a global engineering specialist we are able to offer our clients access to a dedicated group specialising in browneld remediation and water reclamation projects along with other environmental, water and wastewater expertise. Our Saudi workforce is composed of one-third Saudi nationals, who receive extensive training in leadership and technical capabilities and the opportunity to participate in one-year exchange assignments to the Houston ofce. In Abu Dhabi, we established a unique ability to serve a wide range of client needs by building on the capabilities of an ofce that began in 2006 as IMV Projects, a company within the Wood Group Mustang family of brands. Mustang gained international recognition in the region when it was selected to provide the FEED for Phase I of the world-class Masdar carbon capture and storage project in Abu Dhabi. Wood Group Mustang is currently providing onshore oil & gas engineering services in Iraq for long-time clients we have served in other parts of the world. We are currently providing conceptual engineering, eld development planning, front-end engineering, operations support, construction management and site inspection services. Wood Group Mustang offers clients in the Middle East unparalleled experience, capabilities and partnerships. With more than 200 active projects and nearly one million manhours of work in 2012 for our Middle East ofces, we are excited about the future and look forward to continuing to deliver the level of service and support our clients have enjoyed for more than 20 years.

One of Mohammeds goals is to take back his cultural and operational knowledge to Saudi at the end of his experience in the U.S. so he can implement similar systems and culture to Mustang-HDP. The Kingdom is experiencing a substantial growth with government awards on infrastructure projects. He feels that the knowledge learned here will allow him to extend the same high quality engineering and execution excellence on projects in Saudi Arabia. Mohammed recognizes the value of the Mustang culture and its focus on our people as its future. After returning, he plans to establish a larger Young Guns program and training activity in Saudi, sharing his experience in the U.S. with as many Mohammed Al-Wabely has become the first Young Gun exchange member from Mustang-HDP in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Recently arriving in Houston, he will spend a year in the U.S working on projects under the auspices of the onshore civil engineering department. Born in Madison, Wisconsin but raised in Riyadh, he is a graduate of King Saud University in the Kingdom. Mohammed earned a masters degree in engineering management and a certificate in management of technology and innovation from the University of Akron (Ohio) in 2012. While at Akron, he supplemented his engineering education with courses in management, accounting and marketing. He has been on staff at Mustang-HDP as a civil engineer since July 2012, working mainly on transportation and infrastructure projects, as wellas a proposal for a sulfur refinery expansion. Mohammed views his exchange program as an essential opportunity to gain experience and develop his skills, learning from many of the industrys finest engineers. He also is anxious to absorb much of Wood Group Mustangs culture, to which he has already had an immediate and welcome exposure. He has become immersed in his training here, learning the companys operation and is eager to assist on onshore project alongside his new colleagues. Mohammed is very appreciative of his opportunity and his new friendships in Houston. Since joining Mustang-HDP, he has developed his own credo to serve as inspiration for growth and excellence: Never Give Up as Long as I am a Mustanger! young engineers as possible. Within the next few months, six other Young Guns from the Saudi office will be following Mohammed to Houston to help expand the knowledge base.
