VolunteerSpotlight
Each quarter we’ll have a quick interviewwith a volunteer of our branch. Thisquarter our featured volunteer is one ofour Branch Trustee’s Sarah!
Why did you decide to get involved?
Adopted a Lurcher from the branch andwas asked if I could do some collecting-next thing I knew I was on the committeeand 10 years on still am-so be warnedeverybody!!
What have you enjoyed most so farabout volunteering?
Making a difference to the animals livesmainly and more recently seeing thebranch get lots of new volenteers andhow fantastic and passionate they all arehelping to modernize the branch andimprove the animals quality of lives whilstin our care.
Have you learnt anything about theRSPCA since volunteering?
It`s a very complex organisation thatrelies totally on volunteers and voluntaryfunding. I was very surprised that itrecieves no funding from the governmentand yet it is the first place the public andlocal authorities turn to when there is aproblem with any type of animal.
What animals do you have?
2 Lurchers an Airedale terrier a pony and4 kids if they count.
What else do you do in your time?
My biggest love in life is riding horseswhich I try and do a couple of times aweek. I walk my dogs for a couple ofhours everyday. Most of the rest of mytime is either RSPCA work and sortingout kids etc.
