1. Out of sight
Try to keep your phone hidden, especially when you're not using it.
2. PIN number security
Always make sure your PIN number is activated. This will prevent unauthorized callsbeing made on your phone if it is stolen
3. Phone Security Code
Remember to use your phone's s
ecurity lock code. This is an extra PIN number whichonce activated, will prevent another SIM card working in your mobile. You can makethe security code easier to remember by simply adding a ‘0’ to the beginning or endof your existing PIN number. 4. Top-up sensibly
Avoid topping up a pay as you go phone in public. It may tell a thief there is credit onthe account, making it even more attractive to steal.
5. Leave it and you may lose it
Don't leave your phone unattended in a car, or put it on a shop counter.
6. Be alert, be safe
Avoid using your phone when you're on the street after dark. Sometimes you mayfeel safer talking on the phone whilst walking but it can be safer to call someone atthe beginning of your journey and again when you reach your destination.
7. Note down your IMEI number
Your 15 digit IMEI number is marked on a sticker beneath the battery or appears onthe phone screen when you key in *#06#. Make a note of this number and keep itsafe.
8. Call Police Help Line (15) / CPLC (5682222) if your phone isstolen
If your phone is lost or stolen, immediately call your Service provider to block callsfrom your account so that no unauthorized calls can be made and also call 15 orCPLC.
9. Contact the police
Report the loss or theft of your phone to the police as soon as possible.
