VOTERS UNITED - ONLINE?
An online social network exclusively comprised of votersmay not seem like a radical idea. In the United States,the latest presidential election was perhaps the first inwhich the internet played a significant role. Video-sharing sites like YouTube were among the leaders inuser-generated content aimed specifically at shapingpublic opinion and leading debates on criticalissues. Despite the popularity of such media however,voters remain a fragmented and divided group - one thatcan be managed and controlled. An online social network where voters gather on a non-partisan basis, with the purpose of exerting influence andcontrol through a majority consensus may engender aquiet revolution never before witnessed in the history of humankind.
 
NETWORK CHARACTERISTICS
An online network of voters needs tohave several characteristics to succeed.First, it needs a formal organizational structure. The online sitehosting such a network may itself be part of a larger organization, such as a non-profit. All moneys collected by thesocial network in the form of donations, subscriptions, or membership fees thus would be channeled to the non-profit,where it can be used to run programs in line with its missionand the interests of the members of the network.Second, it needs to be united in purpose. The easiest way todivide people is to attack their ideologies, or to label andclassify them. A community of voters must resist that,
