Description

The conflict in the Darfur region of Sudan has made it in and out of the headlines for the last 6 years. The fluctuations of the coverage of the region in the media is not an indication of a conflict that has been correspondingly less dangerous with less of the limelight. Rather the government of Sudan has been implicated in what amounts displacement of millions from their homes and the death of thousands. The way the international community has dealt with Darfur defines the paralysis of some multilateral approaches to the toughest conflicts around the world. In the Fall of 2008 I did an Independent study research project where I looked into several questions that were bugging me: Why the lethargy? What was causing the conflict? And if there is hope in the future? Your comments are more than welcome!
