Complainant,
Darcy
Klund,of
the
Minneapolis
PoliceDepartment,
has
investigatedthefacts
and
circumstances
of
this
offense
and
believes
the
following
establishes
probable
cause:
On
October
8,
2013
at
approximately
1633hours,
Minneapolis
Police weredispatched
to
Aparrnent
# 901
in Minneapolis,
HennepinCounty,Minnesotaon
a
report
of
a
murder.
Remurks
indicated
thatthedaughter
of
the deceased,
returnedhometo
find
her father
dead.
WhenOfficers
arrived,they
observed
that
HCMC
paramedics
were
present
and
that
a
group
of
family/friends
hadgatheredoutside the
apartrnent.Officers
alsoobserved
what
appeared
to
be
bloody
fooprints
on
thehoor
leading
from
Apartment
#
901
to
the
elevator.Officers
enteredthe
apartment
and
observed
a
deceased
male
lying
on
theground
co-vered
in
a
blanket
with
what
appeared
to
be severalsharp
force
injuries
to his
headand
uppertorso.
Officers
also
observed
that
the
walls
abovethe deceasedhad
what
appeared
to
be
blood
spatter
stails.
The
deeeased
was
positively
identified
as
J.A.M.
an
adultmale whoresidedin theapartment.
Themedical
examiner determinedthat
thecause
of
death
for
J.A.M.
was
multiple
cranial
cerebral
injuries
and
thatthe
manner
of
death was
homicide.
Offrcers
spoke
to
the deceased's
daughter
who
stated
that
she
arrived
to
her
father's
apartment
tofind
that
he
was
bleeding
and
immediately
ranout
of
the
apartmentscreaming
and
cryingto
a
friend's
apartment
inthe
building
where
she
knocked
on
thedoor
and
reportedthather fatherwas
bleeoing.

building

his
jacket
sleeves
as
if
he
wasconcealingsomething.
offrcers
spoke
withJ.A.M.'sfamily
members
who
indieatedthat they
knew
the
defendant.They
confirmedthatJ.A.M.
andthedefendant
know
each
other
butonly
as
acquaintances.
Offrcers
spoke
with
another
individualwho
knows
the
defendantvery
well
andstated
that
the
defendant
went missingimmediately
after
the murder
andhad
been
acting
strangelY.
On
October13,2013Minneapolis
Police
executed
a
search
warrant
at
the
defendant's
residence
located
in
Minneapolis,Minnesota.
Offrcersrecovered
several
of
the
same
items
of
clothing
thedefendant
was
seen
on
video
surveillance
tapes
wearing
on thedate
of
the
murder.Additionally
offrcers
recoveredsomepantsand
a
shirtthat
appeared
to
have
blood
on
them.
Officers
placed
the
defendantunder
arrestand
transported
him
to theHEnnepin County
jail.
In
a
post-!$ggglg
interview
the
defendant
initially
deniedever
being
at
J.A.M.'sbuilding
on
the
day
of
the
murder
or
that
it
was
him
onthe
video
surveillance
tapes.
Asthe defendantwas
continually
confronted
with
the evidence,
thedefendantthen
changed
his story
and
admitted that
he
had
infact
killed
J.A.M.
Thedefendantdescribed
how
he
felt
that
a
group
of
people
frorn
the
community
hadbeen
ostracizing
him,
that
he
feltJ.A.M.
was
the
leaderand
sohe
went
to
the
apartnent
to
confront
J.A.M.
Hethen
stated
that
he
struck
J.A.M.
seveml
timesoverthe
head
with
a
piece
of
metalconstructionmaterial,grabbed
the
victim's
cell
phoneand thathehad
discardedboth
the
cell
phone
the
murder
weaPon.
Thedefendant
agreed
to
show
Officers
where
he
discarded the
items.Officers
transportedthedefendanttothe
area
nearEast

Street-betweenIlm and 13s Avenues
South. Offrcersdid recover
J.A.M.'s
broken
