AN
APPEALt' 
Dear
Friend:
We,
an independent group
of
American
citizens,
have formed
the
AMERICANCOMMITTEE FOR FRANCE
AND
ALGERIA,
with
the
express
purpose
of supporting
France
in
her
search
for
an
equitable solution
to
the
Algerian
problem.
We
believe
that
in
the
final
analysis
the
people
of
Algeria,
of
their
own
free
choice,
will
choose
integration
and union
withFrance.
The
Algerian
people--Moslemsand
Christians--have
already
twice
expressed
via
the
ballot
their
overwhelming
desire
to
be
integrated
with
France,
and
these
demonstrations
of
loyalty
indicate
clearlythat
the
terrorist
rebels
do
not
have
the
popular
support
of
the
Algerian
masses.
As
a group,
the
AMERICAN
COMMITTEE
FOR
FRANCE
AND
ALGmIA
will
be
dedicated
to
the
task of
informing
the
American
public
of
the
historical
and
present-day
facts
of
the
situation.
We
are
alarmed
at
the
way
the
raucous propaganda
of the
Arab andCommunist
blocs
in
the
UN
have managed
to
turn
public
opinion
against
France and
blinded
Americans
to
the
very
real
dangers
of
a Communist
victory
in
North
Africa.
However,
in
order
for
us
to
be
able
to
pursue our
own
vigorous
counter-campaign
we
must have
the
financial
and moral
support
of
all
those
who
understand
the
urgency
of
this
problem.
The
cause
of
Western democratic
civilization
is
crucially
at
stake
inthis
highly
strategic
area
of
the
Western
world.
We
therefore
urge you
to
contribute
whatever you can
to
this
important
cause.
Our
campaign can
only
get
underway
when
sufficient
funds
are
available.
