Fan Selection Application-Based Selection Performance Theory

This book is designed to help you select the fan that will bestfit the application for which it is intended. With the largenumber of different fan types and sizes available it'snecessary to know which fan model does the best job incertain applications and then to be able to select the mosteconomical fan size for the job. With that in mind, this guide is constructed in three sections.
Section One
describes how to select a fan using catalogperformance tables with a given air volume and staticpressure. This section also interprets Greenheck modelnumbers and illustrates the relationship between fan speedand airflow.
Section Two
covers the basics of fan selection—determiningthe proper fan model, air volume, static pressure andloudness appropriate for a given application. This isimportant when your customer does not know the amount ofair to be moved or the resistance to airflow that will beencountered. This section also illustrates proper faninstallation and proper wheel rotation.
Section Three
goes beyond fan selection with informationof a more comprehensive and technical nature about airmovement and air systems.
