a. Summary of the Article The researcher did a research to know the effectiveness of Developing English Local Content Material for 8th grade students of SMPN 1 Nguling. In his research, he used 245 students of 7 classes as the subject of the study. The method is qualitative research by using interview and observation as the instruments to get the data. In interview, the researcher used questionnaire and interview guidelines. Furthermore, he took field notes while observing the activity of his research. During obtaining the data, the researcher only focused on 3 groups consisting of 21 students as a focused group discussion and 15 students of each class as the source of getting information by using Questionnaire interview. Besides, the researcher used the textbook based on the context of Pasuruans surroundings. As a result, the researcher found his research satisfactory by getting students interest in every topics he offered.

b. Introduction In this article, the researcher only focused on students interest and background knowledge as the main aim of his study. It is true that the students know well about the words used in the textbook while it is talking about things familiar to them. They only, however, learn the local terminology. Whereas, in this globalization era, we hope the students not only know about their surroundings but also the global area. Moreover, in his group discussion, he asked the students about local, Indonesia, and international topics. Yet he only gave local text as the treatment for their research. They do not compare every topics taken from local, Indonesia, and International based on his creativity. He should chose topics regarded interesting to students from local, Indonesia, and international as the comparative treatment of students interest. Unfortunately, the researcher only aimed at students interest based on the topics taught and the result will be just like a journalist report. Students interest is something unmeasurable to do a research in it. Unless the researcher get the data from the scores or achievement, he will not know how effective local context to the students. Thus, this article seemly role as a journalist repot that get only information by asking questions to the audiences and report the result based on the information.
