ICT103 - SharePoint Technologies II: MOSS 2k7 on Windows 2k3 AD & Exchange 2k3 Integration
ICT103- Course Objectives:
Microsoft SharePoint technologies provide a Web-based framework for remote team collaboration and
real-time document management. The ability to plan, design, deploy and utilize effective Active Directory
Exchange SSO Integrated SharePoint 2007 solutions for your organization are essential to keep pace with
the competition. This course takes students through an example of a typical setup of a SharePoint project
on a domain member Windows Server 2003 operating system. The main purpose of this course is to give
SharePoint developers new to Active Directory Integrated SharePoint setup a starting point to quickly
create SharePoint application projects. In this course, you acquire the fundamental knowledge and critical
skills to create, manage and customize integrated Win2k3 Active Directory, Exchange Server 2k3, and
SharePoint 2007 across your development environment or enterprise.

Module 01
1.0 Introduction
In this project we’re going to install MOSS 2007 on domain member server on Win2k3 Active Directory
DC integrated with Exchange server 2003. Therefore, the first and foremost thing to do is to first install
Active Directory DC followed by Exchange 2k3 setup and finally MOSS 2007 on a separate domain
member server.
It is important to note that it is more challenging to install Exchange Server 2003 (ES 2k3) than any other
Microsoft product. A list, as in shopping list, will not be good enough; if you want to win the battle to
install Exchange 2003, what you need is a plan, as in a general plotting a protracted military campaign
with Special Forces. However, once you get your planning into project management like scenario – then
installing Exchange 2003 is as brisk as taking a beach-walk on cool sunny evening. In this module we will
concern ourselves with installing ES 2k3 on Active Directory Domain Controller (DC). Installing ES 2k3
on DC, when compared to ES2k3 on domain member setup, is a pretty easy stuff and there are lots of
articles and HowTos out there to help in case you encounter any problem. This project was demonstrated
entirely using VMware, however, once you perfect the setup you can migrated them into physical servers
if you so wish. You may also Virtual PC instead of VMware for your demo setup.
c:\dcpromo
5. the Wizard will guide you to Finish installation. Just be alert to respond appropriately to any
queries that may arise.
• .NET Framework
• ASP.NET
• Internet Information Services (IIS)
• World Wide Web Publishing Service (WWW)
• Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) service
• Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) service
Follow the procedure shown below to install the Exchange 2003 dependencies and services:
There are some important facts to note during the planning stages:
• It’s important to note that for security reasons in Windows 2003 IIS is locked down, so not only
make sure that you install the services, but also that the corresponding services are set to
Automatic. Finally start the service.
• If you are installing Exchange 2003 on a server running Windows 2000, Exchange Setup installs
and enables the Microsoft .NET Framework and ASP.NET automatically. You must install the
World Wide Web Publishing Service, the SMTP service, and the NNTP service manually before
running Exchange Server2003 Installation Wizard.
• If you are installing Exchange 2003 in a native Windows Server2003 forest or domain, none of
these services is enabled by default. You must enable the services manually before running
Exchange Server2003 Installation Wizard.
Before we move on into installing our ES 2k3 on Win 2k3 AD DC, we are going to make sure that certain
monstrous and Exchange killer facts are set and running correctly in our Win 2k3 Active Directory DC,
these are:
1. You have installed all required components and services required for ES 2k3 setup.
2. Our Active Directory DC is configured with static IP address e.g.,: 192.168.83.100, and also
let’s assume that this scenario: Server: server04, Domain: mycompany.loc, say.
3. DNS is setup configured and running correctly, to test this do NSLOOKUP, as follows:
C:\>nslookup mycompany.loc
9
April 2007, Kefa Rabah, Global Open Versity, Vancouver Canada
Server: server04.mycompany.loc
Address: 192.168.83.100
Name: mycompany.loc
Address: 192.168.83.100
As you can see our DC is able to perform name services lookup and report back correctly its
status.
At this point grab some cup of coffee or tea or whatever – anything but alcoholic stuff! – to cool yourself
– because the next step is kind of nerve wrecking and therefore requires that all your faculties are alert and
all full steam.
1. Setup /forestprep
2. Setup /domainprep
3. Finally plain: setup
The following are the tricky points to note when you run ForestPrep:
10
April 2007, Kefa Rabah, Global Open Versity, Vancouver Canada
• You need to run the ForestPrep in the Forest Root Domain, because it must be able to contact
the server which holds the schema master operations (SMOs) master role – which is the first DC
installed in the forest.
• That is, when you run ForestPrep – it checks whether it is being run in the correct domain – if
its not – it tells you which domain contains the schema master. The setup then returns an error
message and ForestPrep process ends!
• To run ForestPrep, issue this command via your cmd:
d:\setup\i386\setup /forestprep
• Henceforth, the MS Exchange Installation Wizard will guide you through with installation
procedure. However, be warned that because ForestPrep is modifying the AD schema, you
cannot cancel the process once it starts. Also be aware that it’s unusual for the process to take an
hour or more to end.
DomainPrep prepares the domain partition and must be run in each of the following domains:
Note: that when you run DomainPrep – it creates two security groups and permissions required by ES
2k3, these are: Exchange Enterprise Servers and Exchange Domain Servers.
d:\setup\i386\setup
If you get the server to respond correctly, then hurray – we’re done! So now we have fully functional AD
DC and ES2k3.
Having trouble understanding or just need some skills upgrade – then check out our Exchange 2003
course CIS202 at Global Open Versity.
In module 02, we are going to look at how to install and configure MS Office 2007 applications on our
AD DC server 04.

Module 02
2.0 Introduction
Welcome to Module 02 in a series of lectures which describe how to create a Microsoft Office SharePoint
Server 2007 (MOSS 2007) VMware image for demos and development work. Last time, we looked at
how to install Windows 2003 AD DC integrated with Exchange 2003 into our virtual machine. This time,
we’ll look at how to install some of the Office 2007 desktop applications, including Outlook 2007, Word
2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, and Access 2007.
Insert the Office 2007 installation media, start the installation, select the Add or Remove Features
option, then click the Continue button:

In Module 3, we’ll look at how to setup Office Outlook 2007 on AD DC server 04 to handle Exchange
server messaging emails.
