Foreword
B.S Young is a dedicated team of young talented individuals dedicated toproviding a solution to the many problems facing the Somali youth inBirmingham (United Kingdom). Such problems which inevitable lead tocrime, drugs and disintegration are the result of our neglect to their needs.Birmingham is believed to host around 75,000 Somalis and having proven tobe a community with low violence and a great attention to business it seemsanything but pleasure to see the new generation riot that reputation due thefact that their needs have been trashed for so long. We believe our team andstrategic ideas will change the reputation of the Somali youth and see thestreets of Birmingham safer and cleaner.
Introduction
B.S Young dates back to 2008 when representatives from West Midlandspolice approached a number of Somali elders to assist them with providing asolution to the problems posed by the Somali youth in Birmingham, crimebeing at the heart of their examples. As a result a group of youth wasselected and provided with the opportunity to tackle these issues. The groupwas formed despite the existence of many Somali community groups whichmany Somalis have agreed to be ineffective in their efforts of addressing theproblems of the Somali youth. In that same year a number of activities were organized by the group such asregular martial arts lessons in Nechells (Birmingham) where a number of Somali youth integrated with youth from different backgrounds. Footballtournaments were also very appealing to the Somali youth most notablybeing a football tournament organized in Star City (Aston, Birmingham) inthe summer of 2008. This well organized tournament which included manyother ethnic individuals displayed the success of the new Somali group intheir attempts to address the core issue. Regardless of these activities thecore issue involved much more internal planning which included organizingthe team effectively and providing long-term solutions. In 2009 the organization was revised to form the effective Somali youthgroup B.S Young which included a number of young Somali adults identifiedfor their skills in working with communities. B.S Young has since held manymeetings where the issues and both short-term and long-term plans wereagreed in a short period. Research was carried out with the Somali youth in

an effort to pilot-test the agreed plans including a video interview withSomali youth in Small Heath, Birmingham and a verbal survey where theirinterests were captured.
