 The Charlotte convention was awesome! The board did an amazing job o provid-ing us with great inormation and greattimes. The convention is a lot o work,and the board deserves a big round o applause. The new board has big shoes to fll, andI am looking orward to my role in it.Starting with the Student Ad ManagerWorkshop and summer board meeting,we will dive right in to keep CNBAM asthe best national organization or collegenewspaper business and advertising.With next year’s convention in LA, startplanning now. I am looking orward toserving as president o an organizationrom which I beneft so greatly. Bitsy Faulk Incoming CNBAM President
An amazing time in Charlotte was hadby all. The CNBAM board was once againall over the place making sure all the ses-sions were running smoothly and speak-ers had the AV equipment they needed.Eric Melendez, VP Convention Planningor Charlotte, worked so hard to makesure this convention would be appealingwith a wide variety o topics and speak-ers. He continued to work diligently onthe Charlotte Convention knowing inDecember that his position with theRocky Mountain Collegian would not ex-ist as o April 3, 2009. I cannot thank Ericenough or his dedication to CNBAM.Anne Richard, VP Convention PlanningElect, did a wonderul job o workingwith the vendors in Charlotte and get-ting new ideas or LA 2010. Chris Richertprocessed 572 entries rom 63 schoolsand presented 134 awards to 46 schoolsat the closing banquet in Charlotte.Christy Harrison published our newslet-ters including this one. Charlotte Lilleycame onto the board in January anddid a abulous job o trying to includeas many students as possible into di-erent unctions and activities. KamiHammerschmith returned to the Boardor her last year as Past President and isnow planning the Student Ad Managerworkshop in Chicago. Our membershipincludes 10 new schools or a total o 151member schools.Recently the Board agreed to supportthe Student Press Law Center caseconcerning the student papers at UVAand VA Tech. We sent out a short surveyabout alcohol advertising to the mem-bership and CNBAM will be included as asupporter in the brie.At the Charlotte business meeting theattending members elected the 2009-2010 Board: President: Bitsy Faulk – TexasChristian University, Vice President Con-vention Planning-elect: Kodi Wilson –Louisiana State University, Vice-President

Dues structureto change or2009-10 year
 The CNBAM Board o Directors has ap-proved a change in the annual dues struc-ture starting with the 2009-10 school year.Instead o having two dierent registra-tion ees, based on combined weeklycirculation, there will just be one annualee o $100 per school. This change wasunanimously approved by the board at itsmeeting, March 24 in Charlotte, NC.Member schools will see the change whenthe annual renewal invoices are mailedthis summer. Please take a ew minutes toupdate all o your contact inormation thisyear when renewing your membershipso we can update all o our membershiprecords and keep them current.
Registration still open or SummerStudent Ad Manager Workshop
You still have time to register or the 2ndAnnual CNBAM Summer Student Ad Man-ager Workshop, July 15-18, 2009, at theUniversity Center in Chicago, IL. The workshop is limited to the rst 30registrants, so act now! Sixteen registra-tions have been received. Attendees willdiscuss issues with their peers, share ideas,network, hear rom top industry sales andtraining leaders, and get prepared to leadtheir sta in a successul sales year! The cost o the three-day workshop is$195 plus transportation to and rom Chi-cago and two dinners. The $195 registra-tion ee includes lodging, three breakasts,two lunches, one dinner, and programmaterials. The lodging and meeting space will bein the University Center, 525 South StateStreet, in downtown Chicago. Rooms willbe quads with individual sleeping roomsand shared bathrooms/common space. The registration orm is included in thisnewsletter.
