Is a group of concerned citizens, banded together to foster the preservation and quality of thiscommunity resource that has been handed down to us from past generations.Dear Commissioner JoyceWe are writing regarding the motion that you presented back in March at the Fair Board meetingregarding the message that Katie Varney’s motion was sending. Please reinstate that motion at the nextFair Board Meeting. If you not aware there was a newspaper article in the City Paper on Monday April20
th
that is sending the wrong message. So once again we ask “please reinstate motion”. We think thatthe reinstatement of this motion is in the better interest of the people and also the history of the property. We also know now of the mayors intentions with the property. I myself spoke to the mayor onThursday April 23
rd
at the State of Metro Address and the mayor told me that it is all “gone” after thefirst of the year. We also ask you to help us enforce the law (Private Act 515—included as part of theMetro Charter) which has not been followed in forty years. So we also ask you to make a motion tofollow the law and keep the property out of the hands of the mayor. We understand why you want to give the property back to the mayor but please hear us out. It is a bigmistake and you will be letting the people of the community and also the people of Nashville down. The other point is that the State Fair property is not there to make money for the city of Nashville; it isthere for the people of the State of Tennessee.
