Longman NO. OF STUDENTS: 25 TOPIC: Over Three Hours Late! LESSON AIMS: - To develop Ss' ability to use language in real life situations - To develop Ss' speaking and listening skills - To revise and improve vocabulary concerning means of transportation - To revise and practice grammar: Past Tense Simple of regular& irregular verbs OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson the Ss will be able to: - Use correctly the new words and phrases - Create their own situations and deal with new circumstances in a conversation - Employ correctly the revised grammar topic TIME: 50 min SKILLS INVOLVED: speaking, writing, listening AIDS: textbook, workshe ets, pictures, posters, map of the English Isles. STAGES: - Activity 1:Warm-up ( 3min) Teacher's activity: T enters the classroom, greets the Ss, asks them how they are, if there are any Ss missing. T remembers the task for the day,ex.3 pg.15 from the textbook (Put the sentences in order to summarise the story) and asks Ss to review it quickly to make sure there were no problems with solving it at home. T corrects the mistakes, if any. Students' activity: Ss greet the T, answer the questions and in turn read the exercise. Class management: whole-class activity Skills: speaking ,reading - Activity 2: Lead-in ( 5min ) Teacher's activity:T elicits answers concerning Nicolas journey&the way she arrived to Newquay. o How did Nicola get to Newquay? o Did she have a pleasant journey? Why? o Do you enjoy going by train? o Do you enjoy travelling? o How do people generally travel? Students' activity: Ss answer the questions.

- Activity 3: Remember! ( 5min ) Teacher's activity: T elicits answers concerning means of transportation.T instructs Ss to think about different ways of traveling: by land, water, air or underground and sets up a word map on the blackboard. To help Ss remember, T asks them to look at the picture on pg.17 from the textbook. Students' activity: In turn, Ss go to the blackboard to write down various means of transport. Class management: whole-class activity Skills: writing - Activity 4: Transport Puzzle (5min) Teacher's activity: T gives Ss a worksheet with a puzzle where they have to discover nine different means of transportation.. Students' activity: Ss solve the task Class management: whole-class activity Skills: writing - Activity 5: Find the suitable preposition!(5min) Teacher's activity: T instructs Ss to look in their textbooks at page 16,ex.5 and remember some of the time - phrases characteristic to Past Tense Simple. Students' activity: In pairs, Ss solve the exercise Class management: pair work Skills: writing - Activity 6:Complete! (5min) Teacher's activity: T gives Ss cards with fragments of articles to complete using the most suitable adverb of frequency indicating Past Tense. Students' activity: In groups, Ss complete the blanks. Class management: group work Skills: writing, speaking - Activity 7: Transport Timeline (10min) Teacher's activity: T asks Ss to imagine they are traveling through time and witness a history of transport inventions. T gives Ss a worksheet where to put the verbs into the Past Tense. Students' activity: In groups, Ss write down their answers. Class management: group work Skills: writing - Activity 8: Correct the mistakes(5min) Teacher's activity: T asks Ss to correct the mistakes from an exercise concerning means of transport & past tense of regular&irregular verbs.
