Letter from the Chief Justice
Dear fellow Minnesotan, I am pleased to present you with the Minnesota JudicialBranch’s 2008 Report to the Community. Over the lastfew years, Minnesota’s courts have undergone manychanges with the goal of improving our ability to fulfillour core mission:
To provide justice through a systemthat assures equal access for the fair and timely resolu-tion of cases and controversies.
We have worked to reduce administrative costs, increaseour efficiency and make use of new information tech-nologies to improve service to court users, reduce costsand streamline our work. We are employing nation-leading tools, technologies and innovations to measure and improve our performance. Inthe brief report that follows, you will learn more about these exciting advances. We remain committed to providing excellent service, more efficient operations and moreeffective use of judicial resources in the years ahead. But we will need the support of our partners in the Executive and Legislative Branches, along with the citizens of this state, tosustain this commitment to improvement during the tough economic times ahead.
