Description

The Martyrdom of Madeline Slezak is a fast-paced, action-adventure thriller, epic in scope and apocalyptic in tone. The time is 2019, the near future. The United States is gone, in its place a military dictatorship brought on by events in Iraq (yes, we are still in Iraq!). Following the coup, the Army moves at a glacial pace to reassert its authority. For those in the hinterland, this means being left to their own devices. Out in the West. things start falling apart and reverting to a kind of No Man's Land. And it is out there in the Rockies where Madeline and Kenny, our unlikely Eve and Adam, make their stand. Out there, in a landscape littered with guns, polygamy, witchcraft and race war, they resolve to break out in search of their own private Idaho. But nature abhors a vacuum. And one fine day, some men in a black helicopter come calling.
