Swami Vivekananda's sojourn on earth was comparatively short. Within this short span of life, what he achieved was tremendous. His life and message has been a source of inspiration to the millions, young and old alike.

The seed is not the banyan tree, though the banyan tree is potentially contained in the seed. Likewise, this brief life-sketch of Swami Vivekananda, it is hoped, has the potentiality to inspire the reader to undertake a more comprehensive study of the life of the great cyclonic monk of India.

We have great pleasure in presenting in the pages of this booklet a bird's - eye view of Swamiji's life thereby catering to an ever increasing demand from the public. This is the first book in Sardh Shati Series, which will be used for mass contact throughout the country.
